The Early to mid 2000s aged Maxima and Infinit I35s are some of the cars I am looking at to purchase to replace my Infiniti J30. I got a lot of help keeping it running over the 8 years I have owned it from this site. I know there is a lot of knowledge here and I am wondering if any of you could weigh in on what years are the best or if there are any years to avoid or engines that might be lemons or other problems that I would need to look for when testing these used vehicles.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Also, if you wanted to suggest other cars (Nissan/Infiniti or otherwise I would appreciate that as well).

Some other folks should pop in here, but most of us are a fan of that generation of Maxima and I35. Dead nuts reliable, no major issues so long as you buy one that has been properly maintained and cared for.

If you add your location to your profile, and specify a price range, others can help chime in with some additional Nissan/Infiniti suggestions for you, too. We'd hate to recommend a Z car to you if you live in Alaska, ya know? ;)

Thanks for the reply. There is a 2002 I35 near me for $7500 with 90k miles on it that has me thinking pretty hard. The only negative to me would be the 6 cylinder engine and the gas mileage on that compared to the other cars I am looking at with 4s. It sure seems like good value.
