I have a 1997 QX4 that lately the drive train/transmission seems louder than normal and with rpm's higher than normal... cranking up to 3000 before 4th gear hits then shoots back down to 22+. It sticks around 18oo rpm when idling.
The SES has been on for a cpl of weeks and had it checked out; a knock sensor being the read-out. The one and only Infinity dealership is a world away from where I live, wont even look at it unless I fork out $130 dollars for a check up. :bs:
Being recently unemployed... this is not an option.
HELP! ryan
I just checked the preview... this was suppose to be listed under Infinity, not 300zx... sorry!

Clear that code. Check your coolant sensor for reading too cold, IAS, EGR may be hanging up, hit that EGR at idle with a hammer handle, see if it returns to normal. Check for vacuum leaks.

Check for transmission codes. Gear not associated with speed, check your TPS make sure the connection is good.

While you're at it clean out that throttle intake cause it may be sticking with black soot and is your gas pedal sticking?
