Was browsing through pick-n-pull the other day and saw a 4.5L V-8 out of a 1990 Q45. Did some research and found that it would bolt up to my transmission, would have to modify the mounts just a little, and it would be a pertty tight fit, but wanted to run this by the group before I did something stupid or something really wild.

BTW stats, all aluminum block, 32-Valve, DOHC, V-8 (duh), direct ignition, and 278 hp@6000/ 292 ft.lb @4000

Thanks.

It MAY fit. Everything else about it would be a total ******, cost tons of money, tons of headache, and no one has done it yet for you to be guided by. Modify the mounts "a little" is an understatement. I don't think you could make Power Steering or AC work, much less making the gauge cluster funciton. If you have lots of money, time, and a spare car, and also feel like going through the headache of rebuilding those first gen Q45 engines, have at it.........

sopdadope test fit a VH45DE in a 240sx, it's here in the tech section somewhere. i believe he said the stock exhaust manifolds will not fit, custom ones will be needed. i don't think it will just bolt up to your transmission, either. a 300zx manual should fit with a custom bellhousing.

But admmittedly a engine trhat sat in a warehouse should be rehabbed prio to install and that can be spedny w/ a VH45DE,

Hah, no kidding, I've heard enough horror stories about your VH rebuilds, and before I tried to shoehorn that sucker in I'd want to make sure I didn't have to pull it for a LONG LONG time.
