It seems to me Infiniti is trying very hard to justify their recent increases in price, particularly for options. Re-branding is a common method to do this, particularly in the auto industry. I've try a number of times to justify the difference in new price compared to my 2007 M35 and keep scratching my head as to the rationale for the increases. There are subtle omissions in the new models that are now either optional, or not available.

I'm not sure that Infiniti will be successful in this strategy. They are now treading in the premium car territory and there is very stiff competition from the likes of Lexus, Audit, BMW, and others.

Don't get me wrong, I really like my Infiniti, but a Lexus, it is not.

Absurd !!!
Why would somebody want to buy a V8 with less power and most likely worse fuel economy than a 550HP V6 with most likely better fuel ec. and more power.. doesnt make sense, if you have new technology simply drop the V8 from the M series... in no way Mr.Johan justifies in his letter reason for model name change... its :bs:

The smart way to justify higher pricing would be to start by re-inventing the dealer experience. I think everyone here agrees that Infiniti dealers are THE WORST (especially the service department). Something is wrong when you get better treatment buying & servicing an entry level Chevy!!!

I would have to agree the Infiniti dealerships here in the Atlanta area are horrible but Gwinnett Place Infiniti actually looked, and felt like a luxury car dealership. I was very impressed and the service dept. manager cut me a 50% discount on the part I needed because the dealership is 50 minutes from my house and i had to pass 2 other dealerships to get to that one. But in general Infiniti by far has the worst dealerships I have even been too.

I like the badge changing thing from the community, it will be like when the G35 and G37 guys changing their badges to Skyline 350GT or Skyline 370GT

Same will happen here i know it will

as for the IPL version of the M i got an idea

M IPL

or

M30TT

M30T wont work mainly because people will think it stands for touring (like the old infiniti's or single turbo)
