Saw this on WSB news in Atlanta. I used go to Perimeter Mall all the time when I lived there years ago.

Seems to cover up to 2016 models.

Yeah I read this article over on FB, I wonder if there is any way we can prevent them from punching out our door locks?

Where was security? No one watching surveillance cameras or patrolling the lots??

I would think the alarm would sound once the door is opened.

Never leave stuff of value or even looks valuable out in the open in your car. Park under light. Can't always prevent criminals but if you make their job more difficult or seem to have little payoff for the risk, it may just be enough of a deterrent.

Also, this is why I don't go to posted establishments - I don't want to leave my gun in the car in case of theft, among other reasons.

I agree. Also, I don't believe that this is an Infiniti weakness or security issue; anyone can punch a door lock in any brand vehicle. These folks simply chose Infinitis as the flavor of the day...next time, it'll be Lexus or Mercedes, etc.

If I listened accurately, none of these cars were stolen, just damaged. I take that as a gang of hoodlums who picked Infiniti that day to see if there were any valuables inside the cars. Perhaps the tool they used to punch the metal turned out to be the perfect size for Indfiiti door handles?

It's not too hard to break a window to get entry if he wants to steal something.
But the thief is not going to be able to "hot wire" the car as in shown the movies.
