Is there some sort of secret Infiniti club out there? I noticed there's a customary silent wave/nod when seeing another Q driver.

Example:I pulled into a parking lot and at the same time a white Q, same year, pulled up next to me. My friend and I got out of the car, and two guys about my age got out of theres. We took a good look at each other's cars and one of the other guys nodded back and gave me a look that said "I feel ya, bro"

Never had someone do that before!

Then yesterday on I-90 (havent moved to St Louis just yet) a guy in his early to mid 30s (I'm 21) was in a 2003 dark blue Q. We took turns passing each other for a while, going around 65-85mph. Then he gave me a wave and nod of approval, which I returned, and we ran parallel down the two-lane interstate in busy traffic for about 15 miles. Other drivers certainly noticed. It was quite a show!

"If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand."

...or is it...

"Own one and you'll understand."

Either way, make sure you have some note paper handy to invite those people to NICO!!!!

My kids have gotten so good at it that they can spot a Q or a J from 100 yards away. My wife has even "tagged" a couple Q's during her errands... :D

I agree, but I go nuts anytime I see another infiniti. I have only seen 4 different infinitis in my town, and have seen a green 94/95 Q in a few different times. There is a newer, 97 about, that is always at the place where I work. I sometimes try and park next to it. When ever I see it, i always say "dang thats a nice Q". I can only hope he returns the favor. he has some different rims and some tint, it looks pretty sweet.

See ya in St louie Jesda. I am in the suburbs, and if I see you in your Q45 I will nod. Have ya ever pulled up next to an elderly person who prob bought the Q brand new? They usaully ignore you because they have no real appreciation for the car. Its just luxury piont A to point B to them.

I've had several older folks admire my "new" Infiniti. Evidently the lines appeal to them.

There's a couple nice things about where I am now (Spokane WA). Having an Infiniti automatically makes you pretty darn cool. Having a Q makes you elite.

Unfortunately its hard to come by people who I trust to work on the Q, including Wendle (Swindle!) Infiniti. And people in Spokane dont know how to drive! Its either hicks with lifted old trucks or minivans with cell phone-wielding maniacs.

But whats nice about St Louis (visited there in April) is there's a wide variety of hot cars to ogle on the highway. And people there drive much, much faster.

I'm not going to be far from you. I'll be out in Creve Coeur just off Ladue Rd.

I get the same thing, in Birmingham, AL, in my Q. There are a number of First Gen Q's owned by young punk rich kids, and a few Second Gen Q's, that are owned by the "upper crust", but generally, every one else I pass in a Q or J, give me a nod, or passes me several times on the interstate. I have not seen a silver '94 like mine, which is nice.

My wife has the only Black/Black I30t in the nation, I think. Every one I see, has the tan leather. Now that she has the chrome 2002 wheels on it, it is even more different.

I am toying wit hthe idea of advertising the NICO website on my car, somewhere. Is there a decal available, somewhere?

There was sticker, but the new one hasn't materialized.

I posted a scan of the old one in the General Chat. Good for the D windows on Generation 1 Q45s. Very Discreet.

What's up, Speed Doctor?

Jeff - Repo has some silver ones that will look GREAT on your Q. Email him.

Why in the hell they didn't make the stickers in Ivory Pearl Quartz is beyond me. After all, that's the only color that REALLY matters. :D

Quote »Ivory Pearl Quartz [/quote] Sounds like some kinda jewelry. ;)

Seriously, I love the names od Infiniti's colors. They make you WANT to pay more for the cars.

Thanks for the info on the sticker, I have sent Repo Man an e-mail.

People here are really stupid. people that dont know anything about cars look at my Q, and they think nothing of it. But if I drove up in a really old BMW or lexus, they would all freak out. Apparently, people dont realize how good infiniti actually is, or for that matter, they dont really know of infiniti. For some reason, they think cadillac is better than infiniti  . I must say though, cadillac does have a better reputation than does infiniti, mainly because of their older cars.

In indiana, they are really rare. For some reason, you cant really find them, especially where I live, because we had a bunch of GM factories.

But for those few that actually realize how good these cars are, they seem to be pretty impressed.

I was in Atlanta last weekend for the Mazda RevItUp Driving Challenge, and I've never seen more forest-green 1st generation Q45s. That's where they ALL go to retire.

Were Q45s being driven in the Mazda event? No -- that was exclusively (slightly) modified Mazda 6s. The Q45s I saw were either parked on the street in Midtown or being driven. It was like driving through a Hall of Mirrors.

i get looks from both old and young people, seems my gold rims, custom exhaust, and stance (rear-stock springs, taller and wider tires. front-eibach springs, stock height tires) attract attention. i also have the dark green color.

today i saw a 97-01 Q, it was stock except for two extra lights on front. there was the normal fogs and headlights, but in front of the grille there was two Hella off-road lights. like the ones you see on trucks, with the black grille and everything.

Not Infiniti related, but I just have to tell you guys, I saw a Kawasaki 4 wheeler with chrome spoke 20" rims, and ultra-low-profile street tires on it.

I wish I had a camera, because I am sure Car & Driver would have sent me a jacket for that "sighting"

Last night, I tried to post the pix of my '92 Q (dark green like all the rest) with the extra-strong 16x8.5" 300ZXTT wheels and 255/50-16 Kumhos on it. Handling improvement aside, the car's appearance is transformed from nondescript transport to sports sedan. However, my pix were VGA, and the NICO message says I'll have to reduce the resolution to 300x300 max. Not sure why I bother sometimes.

When out in my M 30 convertible, even the Lexus folks notice! Those of us with J's and M's -- the has been cars -- notice one another. That is from (now) sunny Portland.

There are approximately 20 decent first-gen Qs in my town. Then you have the crappy looking, poorly maintained ones you wanna take the keys of and keep em to give them a nice home.

Infinitis always notice their own i think. Even these new G35 owners love to race me.

yeah, we get spoiled in Atlanta. With 5 dealerships now, I'm thinking we're one of the Infiniti capitals of the country. In fact, I saw 5 FXs this weekend and 4 G coupes. Still only a handful of M45s (<10) since they've been on the mkt though. It's hard not to lust for a new Infiniti when they're thrown in your face so often.
