Just spent 10 days in Maui and say exactly 2 infinitis. One was a M30 and the other a 94 or 95 Q. With regular gas at 2.65 and super at 2.85 I guess a Q would be a very expensive habit.

The island is rental car country for sure so you see 90% US cars, pretty funny to see that many of them. I had a Chevy Cavalier, what a piece or crap........

when I was in Chile and Mexico City this past year...I saw 3 F50 Q's in Chile and 1 F50 Q in Mexico City. I could not believe it as I hardly ever see a Q in Miami, but they were in other countries. I also saw a 1969 Camero SS that was purely an awesome classic in Chile....it was in perfect condition.

4 years ago, I was in Shanghai on business, saw 2 mid 90's Q's, a J30 and a QX4, two of them had Canadian plates still affixed to the back the other two had badging from its original North American dealer that sold it. I was told by a local that the majority of Infiniti's in Asia are jacked or stolen vehicles imported in by organized crime and sold as "status" vehicles to the wealthy.

You do a good amount of driving when visit. I drove my wonderful Chevy Cavailier 400 miles in 10 days and I didn't go up the Volcano or to Hana.

Either way, spending nearly 30 bucks to fill the small car like that, I cannot event think about the Q's hungry Premium-required tank. I did see a few big newer BMWs and MB, but there are 1-5M homes there now that really rich folks keep as second homes so filling those tanks is about the same as you or I buying a gumball...

Q's make bad island cars. Too heavy, too much fuel and too large. I lived in Carribean for six years and no large rear wheel drive sedan was suited for the roads, pavements, switchback turns and -- can you say "potholes?" On Maui there are some good roads, but even there, space and tight and if you get off of the main streets, the pavements are rough. The dependable Asian 4wd SUVs rule on the islands.

Agreed, the wife and I decided that a 2.5 Altima would be the car of choice, front driver, plenty of room and good trunk space and good gas mileage.
