My buddy has an FX45, and when he holds his unlock for about 15-20 seconds his windows go down halfway. I figured my Q didn't have this because, well, it didn't work! He then tells me that his buddy with a Q just like mine can do it. Anyone know if there is a way to "program this in?" Is he blowing smoke up my ***?

It's virtually August now. MAN that would be nice.

Y33s dont do that for some reason... 94-96 G50s do it, and most other nissan/infiniti's do but the Y33's dont for some reason (confirmed in the FSM)

With most aftermarket clickers, you can add the functionality. Plus, with an aftermarket system you can enjoy remote start, so you can keep the windows closed and enjoy AC when you get in.

What's the use of lowering my windows when pushing down on the unlock button? The function I need is to roll windows/shut sunroof. That's what my MB did when I'd turn the key to the lock position when locking the door. That's a great feature. The lowering the window seems like some kind of glitch in the system instead of a value added function.

I agree that raising the windows is at least as useful as lowering them. I thought the same thing 13 years ago when I learned I could lower the windows on the 93 Maxima with the door keypad--but not raise them. With the keyless remotes, I always wondered why holding the lock button didn't raise the windows back up.

I still use the "unlock" button to lower my windows fairly often, though. In hot weather, I leave my windows cracked to keep the car as cool as possible. Then when I'm walking back to the car after it's been sitting in the sun, I hit the unlock button and drop the front windows. It helps a lot. Even if they're not open long enough to fully exchange hot for cold, at least it's hot fresh air instead of hot STALE air when I get in.

Sadly enough, it's a safety issue.

The only cars I've ever seen that will raise the windows (sans aftermarket unit), require the key in the door to operate.

The concept is lowering the windows without contact/line of sight doesn't put anyone "at risk". Raising the windows without contact/line of sight could pinch/pin someone (or some part of their body) in the window doing potential harm. Yes, they could use a sensor to tell if something was in the window or if the window was "seeing" resistance before reaching the fully closed position, but that wouldn't address any small child that may become locked/trapped in the car. Trust me the bean counters (risk management folk) were involved in this.

I remember reading about this feature in Benzes. The European version had the remote rollup feature, but the US version was denied that feature due to liability concerns.

The aftermarket modules we use sense the current draw and stop when it gets above a set amount. When the windows are old and the mechanism is dirty they don't always make it to the top.

We've played with them and they do stop if something's blocking the windows but if I was trying to block it with my neck I'd prob. still be dead, it just wouldn't cut it clean off. You'd look better in the casket,

my 94 Q45 used to unlock the driver door with one press, unlock the other doors with the second press, and lower the front windows if you held the button down. Recently, the remote does not "speak" to the front passenger door, so that door or window does not operate from the remote. Beats me. Maybe a loose or dead connection. I have no idea how this works anyway. If you have any clues, I would be glad to hear them. It was a nice feature to let hot air out before you got in the car.

I'll ask a silly question: is there a "button/switch" for disabling the window buttons in your car model? And, is it pressed in perhaps? This might prevent the front passenger window from rolling down too ... like my current 2003 M45 does!: badboy

Thanks for the tip, but that button is on. I can lower the rears, but not the front passenger side. Seems like there is a disconnect in the door. I guess I will have to pul the door panel off.

Is there a module i can add for shock sensors.. so if i put 20" on my ride and someone tries to take my wheels or jack my car up.. alarm goes off?? Or break windows and alarm goes off? Or do i have to get an aftermarket alarm.. Because i dont wanna give up the feature of leting down my windows

The roll down feature is a great asset here in South Florida with the temp.Within remote range I lower the windows to dissipate some of the heat so I don't jump into a 120 degree car. It helps alot!

Slightly off-topic, but what I'd REALLY like to see is a function that cracked all the windows just a fraction of an inch, at the touch of a button - Perfect for parking the car in the summertime sun. As it is, I usually play see-saw with the windows, overshooting my mark several times before I get it right!

Hmm I'll have to see if my A33 does this.
