I changed the TPS in my 2003 Infiniti QX4 and mistakenly placed the TAB on the opposite side of the throttle pin. During testing, the engine was revving up and down and then stopped working. Found out the ECU was fried during the test. Purchased one on eBay and after installing the ECU and a new IACV the engine did not start. Pull out codes P1610 and P1611 which I guess would be normal after changing the ECU. Had my original ECU repaired and reinstalled but the engine won't start. At this point, I need to find one last option to get the engine up and running or tow the car to a mechanic for repairs. Greatly would appreciate any input.

It looks like installing that other ECU put the system in lockdown. P1611 means "ECM incorrectly coded" and P1610 means the immobilizer has been activated. While doing some searching on them, I came across two simple remedies that are worth a shot:

- Insert the key, turn it to the On position, wait 5 seconds, turn it off, remove the key. Repeat this two more times.
- Insert the key in the ignition 10 times.

Beyond that the answers were pretty much bringing it to a shop/dealership that can reset the immobilizer. Sorry, no personal experience with this.

I tried the two suggestions and still, the engine won't start. I also connected the code reader to see if I get the same code errors but now it shows
"No Powertrain DTC or Freeze Frame Stored"
Thanks for your input.
