Hello,

I have a 1997 Infiniti QX4 which recently started showing CEL with two codes, P0325 and P1447 and have emissions coming up in a month. I am told the code P0325 can be ignored because Knock Sensor has little to do with emissions and that it is the EVAP system that needs to be replaced. I am looking at a EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control that needs to be replaced and I am being told by a store that it is the same as a Canister purge Solenoid. Is that really true? Also, the store tells me that the EVAP Canister Purge Control Valve is nothing but a Vacuum Cut Valve. Is that true? I took the Vacuum Cut Valve to the shop and the guys at the shop had me return it because it was the wrong part. The store insists it is the right part.

This whole EVAP system on the Infiniti is mind-boggling at best. Wish they had made it a little simpler. I am still looking at a massive repair bill  and looking for ways to minimize the expense.

I need some clarifications and I hate having to leave the truck at the shop again and again because the part was not right.

Thanks

Did you get the part from Infiniti or from a parts store like O'reilly's or Autozone?

With a part like that it's really best to have a dealership look it up with your VIN number. On your vehicle, without using a VIN number to search there are a few different options and there are actually two separate solenoid valve assemblies on the EVAP canister itself. Napa probably isn't going to be able to narrow it down, and if they do, they're probably buying the parts from the dealership, marking them up, and then selling them to you. You'd pay about the same for the parts if you just had the shop you're working with contact an Infiniti dealership directly and work with them to nail down the exact parts you need. My $0.02

Is my SUV a Dual Cycle Type or a Step Motor Type?
