Any links on announcement/future plans or anything?

Would also hope for some IPL parts for previous models.

Not nearly enough additional power to warrant the extra cost. If the "regular" model already makes 330hp, I would demand AT LEAST 400hp to even consider forking over thousands of extra dollars for the "performance" model. Exhaust and suspension tweaks are nice, but the bodywork is a little cheesy. Wheels are interesting. I'm hopeful the interior looks nice, it sounds like it will be. I'll wait to see what the additional cost will be for these IPL units, but overall, so far this doesn't offer enough enticement for me to consider a purchase.

Yes it could be better but for some of us with older models this is a great car. A big difference HP wise from my 03.

kinda disppointed... how would this new IPL line take on the BMW M or even the LEXUS F line where IS-F has over 400hp and a V8 to begin with? 18hp gains isnt gonna take away M3 buyer. NISSAN u can do much better then this.. lol FAILED

you could still get a regular 2010 and have a big difference from your 03 and save the couple thousand extra for the IPL.

I agree that the looks are almost to the Fast and Furiousness of the new Nismo Z.

The first pictures look pretty good...but there is always room for improvement.

I too was really hoping for something a tad more substantial than the current coupe. However ~340 is more than enough to get in a significant amount of trouble.

Infiniti seems to be celebrating the end of bad financial times with taking a bit of a leap of faith with launching IPL. Having <400 gives room for improvement. There has to be 400 possible with a good tune and some minor mods on the new Gs, but can it pass inspection?

They are completely different cars than the 2003, but the 03 will be a classic for some time to come, if maintained.

I have to concur with the disappointments expressed above.

Also, why didn't they use the Nismo branding? I understand it's a Nissan thing, but anybody that knows Infiniti knows it is Nissan... IPL means nothing to me.

Well lets just hope this is just a humble beginning. I was also wondering why the Competitors for the G, being the M3, ISF and C63 are all V8 powered. But the IPL G is supposed to be a $48k car compared to a $60k AMG, M3 or ISF.
I hope to see the Third generation (V37) G coupe and sedan to have the 5.6 liter or High rev version of the 5.0. It's only logical if Infiniti expects to be serious competition to the other guys. For now, the IPL G coupe is just a halfasssed start, but a good start nonetheless. I personally would not mind at all having one. It just might take some time, I'm guessing 2 more years, before it starts scaring its rivals.

On a side note, the IS is still hideous.

When the hell are they going to ever increase the torque rating on the VQ. That is my only complaint... Lower the compression, slap a twin setup on this thing and make 400hp/400tq out the box and leave BMW & Lexus in the dust.

that new IPL G basically is a repackage NISMO 370Z. same engine with 2 HP less (nismo z has 350hp) and same exterior interior treatment. I bet this same car is gonna be call NISMO SKYLINE soon when they release in Japan. This is a huge let down. Slap the VK56VD in this damm thing and dust the M3 and i bet people will not be disppointed. INFINITI models still have a huge problem try to seprate themSELF from NISSAN. What were they thinking this is wasting time and the time they do not have against other competitors

make it AWD and with more torque... whats up with the torque? I know its only a V6... maybe the IPL could do a small block V8 or conservative FI to achieve better torque numbers? I understand they want to keep the MPG numbers also. I brought my 2010 knowing that Infiniti wasnt going to do nothing special to the G in 2011... But i will say i do like the cosmetic changes. Got to beef the engine more on a performance line for me to want to fork over more money for IPL... shoot i can add a true dual exhaust, intake, and tune and get close/better to the IPL numbers for about $2k

come on infiniti...

I like the rims...they would look good on a black car i.e. MINE! :)

Like the pic of it sitting in it's own donut :yesnod

Little too much body flaring for me. That is what I love about my car...the nice smooth lines.

I can get in enough trouble with my 330hp. :naughty:

I was at Pebble Beach for the unveiling. The car is exactly as described by "PoyzI," except the color is black. I was expecting a G25 and a G or M variant to match the BMW M series. I'm disappointed, too. At 348 horses, it doesn't even come close to M3. Still, that's a lot of power for a V6 without boost. I'll be back tomorrow for the media presentation and will have a lot of questions for the IPL guys.

I am not impressed what-so-ever. Granted it's Infiniti's first stab at hopping into a performance market with contenders such as BMW's Mach series and Mercedes-Benz/AMG; Infiniti could have done a lot better.

C'mon, think about it. Lexus kicked their performance division off with this:
Image

Not a bad foot in the door IMO. Lexus has already crafted their overpriced, cool looking/sounding, V10 super car and is desperately trying to recoup the money lost by marketing it to high rollers and playboys. I mean the tach in the LF-A changes position when you switch it to sport mode! Is that awesome or what?

Observe:

Yet, Infiniti comes out with a performance division and the car that spearheads the program is a 348hp platform? Infiniti should have done more research and planning, because I'm sure it is priced at the level of M3's and AMG Mercedes'. I can only see the car being purchased by the select few on this forum that are hyped over IPL, the dedicated Nissan/Infiniti consumers, and the people who never do their research and are manipulated by car salesmen who takes the consumers need for a "fast luxury car" and sells them on that standard alone.

Like someone said earlier in another thread about IPL, this is Infiniti's first splash in the pond and it's going to take a while to get the name "M Killer" or "AMG Slayer", so this is a start. All I'm saying is that Infiniti could have made a bigger splash in the pond.

I'll pass on trying to be an LF-A, GT-R performance for over 4 times the price.

I agreed that INFINITI need top make more splash when they debut the IPL line and make AMG /M nervous but they didnt. I think they made a real mistake here. Its gonna take them years to ever think about catch up AMG/M and I am not even mention the LEXUS F-line (which already trailed way behind already) Dont get me start the overpriced LF-A barely beats GTR by a hair length. If they really want, they will make LF-A embarassing with ESSENCE concept which they should make it in the first place for about half of the LF-A would cost. They are too worry about by making a car that is faster then GTR will take away the sale. GTR was originally gonna be an INFINITI in the first place until some dumb a** protest the NISSAN and change their mind. NISSAN still own INFINITI version of GTR. I am still waiting to see what they gonna do. I hope they better do soomething before I ran out of patient.
