A number of posts have referenced the IOM forum for technical issues, but it took me a while to find it on NICO. For other newbees, here's a direct link:

Thanks for the help, here! I'll continue coming here for the general discussion. Jim

That would be where questions having to do with Q45 repair would go

I used to be more inclined to move the posts away, but i think its easier to keep all Q45 related discussion in the Q forum.. Id like to start phasing out the IOM now that the site is really big..

Great idea....get rid of Infiniti general also, and create a Q45 specific parts for sale/wanted forum.

IOM gets more attention from on-line Nissan techs. None, except for Q45tech, on the general Q forum that I know of?

Steve the tech also. Most Q45 problems the older gents have a handle on after 15 years of ownership and the younger gents kindly made websites or info caches based on info provided by older members/personal experience. I think most would agree that Q45 specific info rather than general is best addressed by the cumulative experience of those in the Q45 forum as opposed to more general topics covered by technicians unfamiliar with Q specifics. Many very talented DIYers in the Q45 arena and many with so much experience and so well versed and educated with Q's specifics any abundance of outside interference from those who may not be as familiar could become redundant and/or misleading. Not intended as an insult to industry active techs, as I have been, but this is where those techs should be coming to learn about Q specific details. The ensuing rich conversations and detailed information posted over the years is indeed incredible, as I have found it an amazing resource and learning experience. Has made a GREAT difference in Q ownership for myself personally.

Many of the older posts never were moved from Infiniti General when the Q45 and IOM forums were created. A stillborn effort.

Indeed... Maybe one of these days we'll consolidate all of them.

It does serve its purpose of keeping mechanical functions and malfunctions separate from other observations and enables easier searches. If only Ross had finished his segregation!

Here's an idea: Why don't we just dump them all back into Infiniti General and eliminate the Q45 and IOM forums, then we'd be right back where we started!

The problem is the RADICALLY DIFFERENT power train, suspension, etc. designs and systems on the 90-95 Q, the OBDII Q45 1996, the Cima Q41, and the M45/CIMA 45 [2002 Q45].

Lumping them all together under Q45 is nutso. Causes much confusion by other owners thinking a Q is a Q.

No complaints about the current structure but a Q45 parts wanted section would be nice.
