Just bought a used (but apparently in great shape) 96 Infiniti I30.

A lot of questions to come, but three to start. VIN check shows car as I-30 touring, but there's no 't' after the I-30 on the trunk label. Is there a mistake or did Infiniti not put I-30t on touring versions until after 96?

Second question, what should go into the tool kit in the trunk? I have the jack unit and a crowbar and that's about it. Any screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. that are standard equip in the tool kit?

Third question. As I was digging into the tool kit compartment in the trunk I pulled out two rubber tubes that were apparently loose. One of them had a rusting metal tube attached. They kind of look like they should be some type of drain tubing leading water out of the car. Any ideas of what they are and where they should go and how I would go about replacing that rusting piece?

I'm pretty sure that there was a t after the 130 on 96 touring models (at least the ones I see up here).

Not to alarm you, but you may want to take the car back to the Infiniti dealer and make sure it is the VIN for the car and it is not a "VIN swapped" car. Unfortunatly VIN swapping is somewhat common in the used car industry.

The tubes might be your sunroof drain pipe. It typically teads down the C pillar.

The 1996 year was the first one for the I30, and there was a "t" on the t models.
