I recently purchased a M35x 2007 about a month ago and I love the car.Im new to this forum but have been reading it for a while now. Sooner or later I want to upgrade its performance and I read about the UpREV but as I read some of you advised you have to have an exhaust/intake first for better HP increase. Now my questions are:
1) What is the best exhaust system to get (Note: Im not looking for loud sound, I would prefer something like the stock G35 coupe or FX 35 Groan from the exhaust. Im looking mostly for performance not sound.
I have the same car (07 M35x) and will be getting the MXP exhaust tested fitted on my car and thus a discount, but when I was shopping for a preliminary exhaust (I like to have a plan when I first buy a car), I was looking at Megan. I had the same issue as you (not wanting to be too loud).
2) What is the best intake for the M35x that actually gives performance.
DO NOT GET A COLD AIR INTAKE. Waste. Get a Z-Tube and call it a day.
3) Is the UPREV really worth it after you put the exhaust and intake?
I don't have an exhaust, but yes, I heard it's worth it. It's also worth it from a theft/security perspective. You get up to 5 maps which you can change to at any time. I have a valet map (car won't do more than 30mph and 2500rpm) and a anti-theft map (car will sputter and misfire as if it's running on 1 cylinder).
4) Which is the best spacer, as im looking for high end increase
Motordyne 5/16" Spacer or maybe the 1/2". But, definitely Motordyne.
*Also if any of ya'll suggest anything else
Thank you all,
Im looking at the stillen exhaust and it sounds pretty sick, I like the groan it gives I just wish I can keep the 4 tip exhaust, I wonder if there's a way. What does the Mrev2 do? I haven't read about that. I had a 2000 Lexus ls 400, It was pushing about 330 HP, it was pretty fast so I just want to get as close as I can too it performance wise.Twizz wrote:I have the Stillen catback system and I purchased it because I didn't want something that was too loud. When I initially purchased the car, I was going to go with the Greddy. After hearing just how loud is was, I let it go in favor of the Stillen. It sounds nice and a big harder than factory, but not too loud at all.
I also have the Injen CAI. I love the way it sounds when you give it gas.
I don't have the tune yet though. I plan on getting it. But before I do, I want to get the motordyne mrev2 and the plenum spacer.

-I will look into the MXP exhaust system, there isnt one made for the m35, are you going to custom fit a 370z one or what?
I am testing fitting a new M35 one and if all goes well it will be made for the M35. It's $1,800 though last I heard...so Megan may be more in your range (not sure what your budget is).
-What exactly is a Z-Tube? Would it replace the tubing to the stock intake? and where would I purchase one to fit my car? And is it a plug and play type of thing or need custom work?
Just look on EBay or Stillen.com. I got mine on EBay if I recall. It's basically the intake tube from a Nissan Z. Replaces part of your intake system, but not all of it. I left the filter box, etc. all in place, just the baffle was replaced. 10 minute install.
Thank you again for your response!
for the Stillen exhaust, you could always chop the tips and get quad tips put onmetalrocke wrote:Im looking at the stillen exhaust and it sounds pretty sick, I like the groan it gives I just wish I can keep the 4 tip exhaust, I wonder if there's a way. Thank you for the help bro! I appreciate it .. I will look more into the exhaust's as I'm not in a rush because I want to enjoy the car stock for a while but if you could post a video whenever you get your exhaust fitted just too see how it sounds that would be great! Im loving the m35x so far, so I could imagine how it is once its tuned up.IlyaKol wrote:metalrocke wrote:Hello and thank you for the reply.

Yeah I'm sure a custom exhaust shop shouldn't have a problem on doing that depending on which exhaust I go for.for the Stillen exhaust, you could always chop the tips and get quad tips put on
MRev is only good for rev-up engines on certain G's...it's pretty useless on V6 M's from what I read about it (and a friend who I talked to about it).Twizz wrote:The Mrev2 is an engine mod its supposed to give more power through the middle of the power band. When I put my intake and exhaust on together, I lost power in the middle of the power band. The MRev and the plenum spacer are supposed to give it back.
