I just pulled out my car from the garage and was heading down the road.. I felt a slight pull, but ignored it. Then all the lights on my dashboard (Slip, VDC, Service Engine) all came on and my steering wheel locked, and i couldn't accelerate. I rolled into a parking lot, in a panic. It started right back up and i drove it 5mph (think it was on safety drive mode) back home about 0.5mi and it didn't let me accelerate past 5mph. I called infiniti and they said it could either be the alternator not supplying the battery with enough power, or the drive train/engine. What do you guys say? :wtf2:

Gonna have to say your car is in limp mode/safety mode as you initially thought.

When I had my Maxima, it usually pointed at the mass airflow sensor. Any OBDII codes? I'd start there.

Im going to try and drive it to my friends shop which is 5mi away pending it's driveable (not on limpmode) if not ill tow it. He did say he thinks its a broken sensor. I hope its nothing major.. Thanks for your reply!

Some auto part stores will test your battery & alternator in the car, for free. That is the most affordable place to begin.

I doubt it is the battery/alternator. If your alternator was bad, your car would most likely not start.

Your car isn't accelerating due to the car being in the "safe" mode. When my FX35 had a radiator leak, the car went limp and would not let me accelerate to prevent it from overheating.

There must be something else considerable that's broken on your car. If you have a scanner you can see what is wrong with it. I would not drive your car if you have no idea what is wrong with it. You are probably doing more harm to the car by having the car run, especially if the problem is engine related.

I agree zerg711, partly because I just installed a brand new battery (at infiniti) during my last service which was only this past fall. I'm actually waiting for AAA to get here to tow it. I'm anxious to hook it up to the computer and see what the issue is. If its something not-so-serious ill be very fortunate..

When my j30 did random things, it was the connection to the battery. But if your car is in some sort of "limp mode", then yes that changes things! Best wishes for a cheap fix!
