ill take some pics soon ,

Definitely, use the Search button (its's red). Just put in J30. You will have about 5 hours of reading ahead, but it is very enlightening.

dunno what kinda mpg you get buy i got around 17.5 when i first got the car and after adding a can of bg-44k i have gotten about 19.2-19.6 over the last 6 months. Sounds like a sweet car with low miles...get some pics.

How are those silverstar xeon bulbs working out for you? Were they hard to install? How much do they run, and are they worth it now that you've had them for a little while? Thanks.

Seriously though here's a great tip. I get about 22-24 mpg from my 93' J30.

I keep the tank half empty. I figure reducing the weight the car has to carry should help and it did.

I use Shell high octaine.

alexho, the silverstars work out nice. They are pure bright white light from about 15 feet and further away. When you get up close to them they arent pure white but they arent as dull as the stock bulbs. Id reccomend them...get em on ebay or at autozone. Really only need the low beams.

Keeping the tank half empty would only be like what maybe 10 pounds lighter? I dont see how that could increase the gas mileage so much. Are those numbers city or highway? Do you often accelerate fast or do you keep it at aroudn 2000rpm?

Thanks J30t. I have never had to replace my lights before, but I do want that nice bright light. Is it very difficult to replace the low beam bulbs with the Silverstars?

nope..get out your owners manual and go to the DIY part and it has pics of what to do. Just need to twist the bulb one way and pull it out...then you take the old halogen bulb and put silverstar in....then stick it back in the hole and twist it back the opposite way.

I have just been reading various posts on the Silverstar 9006 bulbs the last few hours, and it seems like the general consensus is that these bulbs last around 9-12 months. That's not very long, is it? How long have you had yours in?

6 months with no problems. They cost about 40 bucks, if you want you could try hella optilux, ive read good things about them on the bmw forums. Most people say they put in bulbs and they blow after a few months, mine still shine bright. Anyway, if you decide to get some make sure not to touch the of the bulb when you install them. I figure the silverstars are the highest quality pure white light, if youre looking for a blue tint like HID then you wont want silverstars. You could always just go HID.

Surely not on this forum? They are made in Germany, just like the OEMs I removed. I have had mine over a year.

I run highway at around 70 mph. It's a 19 gallon tank and fuel is 5.8 to 6.5 lbs. The tank, if full is 123 lbs, hlf empty it's around 61.75, it's exactly 61.25 lbs lighter

If anyone is looking for the "HID" look. I have tried many bulbs, and the best ones I have found are the XD5 bulbs. You can find them on ebay for about $30 a pair. Make sure you go for the 5800k not the 5100k. They sell both on Ebay

CLICK HERE TO SEARCH EBAY FOR XD5 9006 5800k

Some people want the white look, so this is not your cup of tea. This is not a dark blue, but a slight blue tint but very HID looking. I have been impressed. Be sure to go for the 80 watt low beams. I have had them for a month and been very happy. I think you can get a pair of 9006 & 9005's on there for about $50.

you better take out those 80W bulbs before you fry the wiring and have a problem. If youre gonna put it anything over 55w in the low or 65w in the high make sure to upgrade the wiring harness or else you will melt it...get those outta there quickly.

I actually had that problem on my miata with 100 watt bulbs. I just took for granted that Infiniti would help better quality when it came to that. What or where do I need to go to get the upgraded wiring harness? I can stick the old bulbs in until I get this done. Thanks for the info
