I've been reading on these forums a lot for consulting about problems with my car. I have a 1993 Infiniti J30, and was wondering what it's differential was. I've heard 3.9 from other places, 4.XX at other places. Also, I just read another post that ended on an odd note to me, did the '93 Infiniti J30 have a VLSD like 94-97? Or is it a true positrac? I've near wrecked due to my rear end multiple times (the pouring down rain and loving to accelerate never mix well), that leads me to believe it is a positrac, but I don't know for certain. So, my questions are: Does a 93 infiniti J30 have a positrac? If so, does it have a different ratio than a stock VLSD they put on the rest? If not, then what is it's rear end differential?

Welcome to NICO !!!! :bigthumb:

As far as I know all J's have the VLSD diff but in reality its alot like a posi rear end.
If the drive wheel spins it immediately locks up.

Not sure on the ratio thing but I'm sure someone will chime in with the specs.

Sounds like the Viscous clutch is burnt out.

It's an R200V

3.92 ratio, all of them have Viscous LSD. And yes Viscous Couplers do wear out.
