Infiniti J30 junked today

sadly my 93 infiniti j30, which i have had alternator, transmission, and numerous other problems with has died today. The timing belt broke and the engine is junk after only 116 k miles. I just replaced the transmission and the alternator and it is in good condition. If anyone is interested in parts or the car let me know. I should of probably went with a honda in retrospect, as i will not likely ever purchase another nissan product.

sorry to hear about your J .But timing belts do need to be replaced from time to time.Was that the original belt ?If so a 93 belt should be replaced at 60K.

Oh, and a large majority of Nissan motors have timing chains insead of belts. Just not the J30.

I feel your pain. My 93 jumped time and smashed valves on at least one cylinder on each head. Of course it had 190k miles on it.

My 97 has 125k miles and I have no idea if the belt has been changed. I'm sure when it goes I'll feel bad I did not change it. In the mean time, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I had second thoughts on junking it and im gonna have a friend look at it who deals with that stuff all the time. It was idleing at a bank drivethrough when it happened so it could be that all it needs is the belt and nothing was bent or broken. Do you think this could be the case. Does the J30 have an interface engine? I did notice it was missfireing for months before this happened which is probably a good indicator. I should of changed the timing belt sooner. I hope I can still have it fixed and that since it was idleing at the time it didnt cause maximum damage. If anyone has any info id be glad, if it gets junked ill take part requests.

Yes .. it is an "Interferance" engine.

Only way to know is to take it apart and see whats up.

What do you want for the transmission? I have one that will only go forward. And was thinking of junking it or selling it for parts. The engine runs fin and has cold air. I would sell the whole car for 700 dollars if I cant fix the transmission.
