Infiniti is nutz with their maintenance prices

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Luckily I have 1 free oil change but after looking at their maintenance prices I wish I had more. They are crazy.....$70 for an oil change!!!! $190 for their "7,500 mile maint." (which only includes an oil change and rotation of tires).......$950 for "30,000 mile maint." (differential fluid change, transmission fluid change) which I don't even see in our manuals that we need all this crap done at 30,000 miles!!!! http://www.infinitioftysonscor...m.htm

What really bothers me is that I had a Chevy Trailblazer for 3 years and in the manual it specifically said "change oil when oil indicator light comes on or once a year." I also see that BMW, VW, Mercedes, and some American companies all have free maintenance. I blame myself for not researching this before I got the car.....oh well, I only have 2.5 years left on my lease.

i have 3 free oil changes, but i am NOT looking forward to paying for maintenances. as part of my deal, i told the dealership i would service my car with them. id hate to renege on my promise but at those prices i would be eating bread and water for a month! and if i did the exact same procedure at a garage familiar with g37x coupes, they'd do it for $300 vs infiniti's $950.

i wonder if people negotiate on the price of services?

Try different dealerships.

My oil changes are around 40 bucks...pretty close to what Subaru charged me and about 10-15 more then a Jiffy Lube.

The regular worker is costly. You can break it down into groups and have it done at oil change intervals near the milage. In other words instead of waiting for 30,000 miles and doing all the crap at once do something at the 24,000 oil change a piece at the 27 and the other at the 30.

My 12,000 miles was 150 bucks. My oil change/rotation is about 70. Prices vary per dealership.

yeah but the MD dealerships are way cheaper, like the annapolis one. in PA, they overcharge for everything.

Wow, those prices are ridiculous.I had service done every 6K miles. My oil changes were around $40. Not bad at all for dealer prices. In fact, my dealer has a punch card. 5 oil change punches and the next one is free.I never had a 7500 mile maintenance either. That sounds like baloney to me.

or just change your own oil and save money on that.

granted $40 is VERY cheap for a dealership price,

the 15 and 30k maintenance is actually not too bad. My Acura was more costly at those intervals actually.

Ironguard, I realise its not your closest dealer, but it's also not too far from Media - I got my EX from Holman Infiniti in NJ, just off Rt 73, about 5-10 mins from the Betsy Ross bridge. I also have my servicing done there. They charge about $40 for an oil change/filter. Plus they always have some random coupon on their website for 10% off an oil change, or brake service etc. If the bigger service items are also much cheaper, it may be worth a trip over the bridge for you.

I actually paid the $400 or so (we negotiated it down) for the maintenance package, which covers me for I think 60k miles? I forget exactly. Anyway, it covers quite a few oil changes and what not and has been worth it.

yeah thanks for the advice. ill be sure to check them out as well as the 8 other dealerships in my area. i will feel bad if i find a cheaper place other than where i bought my car, b/c i made a deal with them, but my wallet will thank me later.

For non-warranty work I always took my Acura to my local Honda dealer. It was much cheaper. I asked the salesman at my Infiniti dealer if my local Nissan dealer could do regular maintenance on my EX and he said, "yes, but not warranty." Of course, I live 180 miles from where I bought the car so he wasn't expecting me to use his dealership for regular service anyway.

do you think a nissan dealership would be better to service an infiniti then say.... um, a suburu dealership? i ask because in my mind, nissans and infinitis can be quite different, and i would be worried that the nissan worker would have encountered an infiniti vehicle either seldom or never.

We just had our first service. 3600 miles. I brought our own oil, I like Mobil One, my Infiniti dealer installed a factory oil filter and changed the oil, they also washed my ex35. The total cost was $26 and change. Considering I provided the oil, I think this was a great price, not high at all. I have found our Infiniti dealer to be very fair with service pricing.

For oil changes and basic stuff it's not going to matter.

Drivetrians as basically the same between different vehicles so I do not think you'd have any major issues.

If it was something very in depth I'd probably have Infiniti work on it...but in 6-8 years joe blow corner mechinc is going to be working on these. How hard can it be?

You guys don't even want to know my experience with Miller Infiniti in Van Nuys, CA... the costs that you all listed pale in comparison to what the dealer quoted me.

They say my first maintenance (3700mi) is going to be $500+They say my oil changes will cost $180 because they use a "special oil formulated for the G37S". Thankfully because of such a HORRID purchase experience, they gave me a year of oil changes free. All in all my maintenance costs before 30k miles are supposedly going to cost me over $3000.00. After dropping over $45k+ on a car, you'd think they'd be a little more respectful and not BS me, right? NOPE!

Hell, I was waiting for the special oil comment to be followed by a "you need to replace your exhaust ball bearing every 10k miles"... haha Special oil my arse!

You're better off NOT going to an Infiniti dealership to get ANYTHING done. Their prices are INSANE and they lie to you, doesn't matter who you are, they lie to EVERYONE!

I'll NEVER buy an Infiniti again after this experience and had I known there would be even a chance of this happening, I'd never have bought it from the get-go. I find it quite disturbing that Nisssan Corporate doesn't take things like this very seriously and police their dealerships, after-all, you have to meet so-called requirements to own and maintain one... so they say.

THANKFULLY I'm not one of those useful idiots who believes lies like that and thankfully I have a lot of experience with family members who own exotic car businesses, so I know the BS when I hear it.

Just a note to you out there who are unsure and may believe the nonsense they spew. Remember, they make less money off selling a car than they do from follow-up maintenance... just like a bar pays $10/ bottle of vodka but makes $300+ off sales of it in shot format.

Remember, there is no "special oil" for your specific car... and always check that exhaust ball bearing! haha

Ya, I never go to any dealer for services. unless its warranty, or free services.

You need to find a shop that you can trust, and reasonable price.I've been with my current shop for about 16 years now, I get all my oil change done there. I had 5 cars in 16 years, none of them had any problems. just the regular oil change, didn't even need any major services.and they charge about $15 to $25 for an oil change. price increased over the years, but still beats what Dealer is charging.

The ester oil does help on the G37. If you look at the G forum and do a search you can find threads where people had issue and when they switched to easter oil the issue went away. Ester oil change is 60+ at my dealer. The regular is 40. Just saying.
