That's funny, Infiniti #2 in terms of only 98 problems per 100 vehicles. That fourth column means many new cars manufactured have multiple problems right of the assembly line. It's a crap shoot to get a trouble free new car. Of course, this is all meaningless, since it isn't based on all the fleet, only those that participated in the survey.......

I have owned 2 Fords previous to my G and I never had any major issues with them... Many in my family have/had Fords and never had major problems either... As far as american cars go, I think Ford is the best... I'll just have to wait and see how my G holds up. I sure am enjoying her

With me it's been the opposite. I've had mechanical issues (not engine tho) in every Ford product I have owned (Ranger, Mustang and Probe). The last Ford I owned was the worst as it went through a transmission after 60k miles, went through plug wires every other year, had to have the calipers replaced numerous times, CV joints toast a couple times, alternator / starter / water pump / condenser all go out.

I have not had a mechanical issue out of the Nissan products I have owned (except for a bad seat switch on my Maxima that was fixed under warranty at 35k miles). I've had a Sentra, Quest, Villager (pretty much a Quest), Maxima and now the G37.

That sucks dude... I wouldn't be buying Ford after that either... I'll stick with Nissan as long as the G holds up which I'm sure she will

I've owned several fords - 69 Mach 1, 87 TurboCoupe, 88 bronco II, 90 Taurus SW, 98 Taurus Sedan, 96 V6 Mustang, 97 Cobra, 98 GT Vert, 99 Exploder 4x4 96 Cobra vert....(knock on wood). With the exception of the Mach 1, my 02 Max and 01 Pathy have had more problems due to sensors. I still think Ford builds the best domestics, but I don't care for one right now, thank you.

However, I still love Nissan!!

Nissans we've owned91 240 SX SE w/hicus02 Max SE01 Pathy SE 4x4 5MT03 Pathy LE 4x499 G20 (RIP) 00 Max SE (current)05 G35 (current)05 G35 (current)

Nissans I lust for 350Z and G coupe.

Sounds like you had as bad an experience as I had with my 84 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z POS!!! Traded the 69 Mach 1 in on this POS new. In the shop every month!!!

I wanted a 84 300Z, but settled for the Daytona. BAD MISTAKE!!! DON"T SETTLE WHEN IT COMES TO CARS AND YOU ARE A CAR FREAK!!!!

It only takes ONE bad experience to turn you away from a brand. Just ask Telcoman about his 58 FURD!

Yeah I still agree that Ford makes the best domestics, at least from me and others in my families experience... Chevy on the otherhand, makes the worst cars if you ask me... Everyone I know that owned a GM product hated it... My brother had a 94 cavalier, the motor blew around 100k... 99 Blazer the transmission blew around 100k and many other problems prior... 67 Mustang is a dream car of mine! But for now, lets stick to our Nissans!

Cracks me up, Ford now boasting they are as good as Toyota.

Understatement of a lifetime, Ford finally has admitted they have been under par. Brilliant marketing.

Having owned many Fords or the years, we ended our relationship with Ford in 2005. It was a 97 Contour. The car had several failures, V-6 engine, O2 sensor on the right bank dead at 20,000 miles, leaking transmission at 25,000 miles, plastic impellar in the water pump split in half at 29,500 miles. No more Fords, unless we happen upon a GT40.

My first car (which is now my winter beater) was a 99' Ford Escort ZX2 automatic. I thought it was normal for a car to be in the shop more often then I was driving it until I bought my G. Escort has 86k miles on it now and here's the list of my problems:

- Driver window explodes due to manufacturer defect, not replaced on warrenty (2 months old). - Replaced transmission @ 17k miles, something inside the housing punched holes all over the place. - Replaced transmission @ 31k miles, same thing. - Throttle sensor wire mysteriously shreads apart @ 38k miles. - 4th cylinder stops firing @ 41k miles. - Fuel pump goes bad @ 43k miles. - Front tire rods replaced @ 48k miles. - Water pump explodes and takes out 3 pulleys and the serpentine belt @ 52k miles. - Front driver ball joint goes bad, only held in place by the boot @ 79k miles. - Transmission locks up and car won't move, or roll off the flatbed for that matter, replaced transmission again @ 84k miles.

Now all of this is just the major stuff I can remember, not the stupid little problems in between. Not only has this car made up my mind to never buy a Ford again, but the guys at the dealership are a bunch of jerks too. Sorry for venting

LOL

My old next door neighbor had one of those. They used to make a weekly trip to Brooklyn from NJ every Sunday to visit his mom. I don't think a week went by when he had some sort of breakdown either going or coming on that trip. BTW, they now have two Honda's. Finally learned after many years of defending FORDS.I learned when I was eighteen. Some people are slow learners and take a little longer to admit that FORDS are just pieces of $hit:uhhuh

As much as I picking on these Furd guys I have to admit I had 4, 3 here in North America and 1 in Europe so far. I have to say non of them had big issues. The one in Europe had non what so ever. But we know Europian Furd built better and better quality. Only problem I had with 2 out of 3 ford here is the wheel bearing on the front wheel. After 60k on one and 67k on the other one had to be replaced. The 3rd one has only 6k on it. Had to be fixed the heated seat element on the passanger side. It melted. The service guy said it could of started the fire.

The Focus I had it in Europe was much nicer and faster then the Focus here. I wish they brought the Europian focus here.
