Hi,

I am having ignition problem in my 1998 Inifiniti i30. It takes more than one try with the key to start the car, specially when the weather is hot. It also has check engine light on. I took it to dealer. They told me that the error codes are P0450 and P1446. The EVAP cannister and valve needs to be replaced to solve ignition problem.

My question is, does the ignition problem and EVAP cannister related? Doesn't seem to me!!!! Seems P0450 and P1446 is just for check engine light. Did anyone have similar problem? Please reply....

The title of your post is misleading. You have a starting problem. When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? You may have a problem with fuel delivery or leakdown. You might as well check the air filter condition.

As for the other problem, both codes point to the Vent Control Valve. But before replacing any component, make sure you check the tubings to/from the Evap Canister. Label each tubing before disconnecting it. You may have crack, loose or clogged tubing. Refer to the link below for additional info:

check your fuses. cant remember for sure but there is a fuse under the steering wheel which has to do with ignition and starting. check that. had starting problems until i changed it. good luck.
