I have a 1997 Infiniti I30 and last night it started having problems with the door open sensor. I'm not sure what happened, I was giving a couple of my friends a ride home from a movie, and when we all closed the doors, the door open light on the dashboard wouldn't go off and the interior lights stayed on. I stopped and had everyone open and close their doors again to no effect. I manually turned off the overhead light, but the sensor on the dash is still on as well as the lights on the doors. When I got home, I went around to all of the doors and made sure they were properly closed, but the lights and sensor are still on. After a half hour or so, the lights on the doors go off automatically, I guess to keep from draining the battery, but when I get in and start the car and drive, the dash sensor and the door lights stay on the entire time. I'm not sure if this would be a problem with a fuse being blown or one of the sensors on the doors malfunctioning. I haven't taken it into the mechanic yet, I wanted to get some opinions here first. If anyone knows how to resolve this problem, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Alec G.

each door frame will have a button that is pushed in by the door when you close it. Go around to each door and push the buttons in to see if you get the lights to turn off. Thats my only guess, that one of the buttons is not closing properly

Thanks, that was exactly what it was. One of the buttons was not getting pushed in all the way when the door closed because it is so old the rubber has gotten hard.
