Without a troule code, it may be difficult to diagnose. What was the last maintenance activity done in the car?You can start by checking the entire air intake for any leak. Such leak will cause starting problem. Check air filter and replace if dirty. Clean the MAF sensor and connector (CRC MAF sensor cleaner will do, then apply dielectric grease on the connector pins). Clean throttle plate and body (do not spray directly into the assembly, use rag).
Make sure the main engine harness ground points are clean. If not, remove and clean both the lugs and the ground points. Apply dielectric grease after cleaning. Just follow the main engine harness and you will find two small black wires going to the engine frame.
If you suspect a faulty MAF sensor, disconnect it and start the engine. It will turn on the CEL (most likely P0100 code) but can be reset later. The car will be in 'limp mode' with the plugs and injectors firing simultaneously. Do not drive the car in this condition. So if the the engne runs, then you have a bad MAF sensor.
The problem may also be with the IACV. Refer to the 'sticky' within this forum on how to clean/replace it. BTW, if you have a shorted stepper motor coil(s) in the IACV, it may 'kill' the ECM (driver/power transistor is inside the ECM).
If all of the above did not fix the problem, check the fuel pressure - 34 PSI with engine running; 43 psi with engine off, Ignition ON (limited to 5 seconds). You need to connect a T-fitting on the line going to the fuel rail. You can buy it or borrow one from Autozone. FIRE HAZARD - ensure fuel line is empty before you break it (pull the Fuel Pump fuse, and crank the engine several times).
