I recently purchased a 2000 Infiniti I-30. The car is in great condition. Low mileage too. I love the options and style as well. The only problem is, I'm wondering about the paint. There were a few scratches that I was mostly able to polish out. However, the paint appears to chip and scratch very easily. It this common, any other I-30 owners out there?!! I also noticed that there are a few places on the car where it appears that the top coat has bubbled up a bit. It's hardly noticeable unless you get really close to the car and look. Hey, I know it's a used car. But, I'm wondering if paint and clearcoat might be a problem with this vehicle. The Infiniti is supposed to be a little higher class car, isn't it?! Any warantee on the paint I wonder? Thanks so much for any responses.

The paintjob on the I30's is known for some weaknesses and not up to the rest of the car.

Some owners have gotten teh clear bra system or used 5 star shine ( do NICO search on it).

Fred...:)

I agree with Fred.. Even the G35 has a crappy paint job..... Its VERY thin and I can nearly tell you wont find them in 10 years in as good condition as our G50 Q.....

The G50 Q has one of the best paint jobs the industry has known. Sorry that doesnt help you.!!!

It might not be a bad idea to consider a repaint. 2 layers of paint is better than one!!!

My 2000 I30t has typical NISSAN paint. Not too good. Very soft!

Black may be the problem. I have seen J's and I's in black, that look about the same.

I have 50,000 miles on it, and it looks 10 times worse, than my Q, with nearly 200,000 miles.

I had a black 95 Maxima. The paint was terrible and scratched very easily. The weak paint is, of course, even more noticeable in a dark color.

My 91 SE-R had degenerated clearcoat racing stripes starting at 4 years of age.

CuhRappy paint, on 91's at least, looks like there was no UV agent in the clear.
