Infiniti G20 P10 SR20 JWT S3 cam install...timing chain noise on startup

So I've been hanging onto a pair of JWT S3 Cams for a while and a buddy offered to install them for my into my G20 P10 with the SR20.

The guy has done lots of work on SR20's and he was well versed with the install.

Cams are back in and everything bolted up...the cars fires up and runs/starts/idles good...but we have a noisy cam chain it sounds like when the car starts up. This goes away after a moment. Also...we have an oil leak that we're not sure where it's coming from.

So...he removed the cam chain tensioner when doing the cams in order to get slack in the chain for the swap. Everything went back in just fine and the tensioner gasket looks brand new.

Any tips on why the cam chain slap/noise on startup? It didn't do it before, and I don't imagine installation of cams would change anything to do with the chain tension. The tensioner is activated by oil pressure from what I gather.

As well, any advice on the oil leak? We put a new valve cover gasket on and the only other part removed was the chain tensioner...where the gasket looks perfect.

The stupid oil filter location means that the oil filter had to be removed in order to access the tensioner...but thats it.
