Should be a cheaper way to do it - heck, even the dealer aux input cable for my 2004 BMW was only $30 and easily snaps into the CD changer plug and works fine. Sometimes the more expensive products that give fuller control over the iPod tend to have shortcomings in terms of consistent audio quality. As you probably know, Bose doesn't actually make head units, so your best bet is to read the sticker on the metal case and decipher if it is a Clarion, Matsuhiuisi (Panasonic), etc., and then determine if that is AUX-able. Year 2000 may be a bit too early. The cost justification for upgrading to a newer head unit is that you can get Bluetooth at the same time.BrianWilson wrote:Is the Bose stock unit. I heard of adapters that plug into the CD changer plug that makes the unit think the iPod is a CD changer. I found some for $100. Does anyone know of any cheaper ones or another way to wire it in?
Yes, doesn't look worth that much, and for less than that you could get a new low-power Sony h/u with aux-in that might be acceptably compatible with the proprietary Bose amplified speaker design.Even on later Nissans, adding an aux-in seems to be complex.
