I wanted more up-to-date auto reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to track cars closely as they age.

Thanks to the help of NICOClub and its members, for which I am very grateful, many Nissan and Infiniti models are already included in the results. I'd like to get the FX in there as well, but more participants are needed.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to all results, not just those for the FX, for free.

2003-2005 are now all in the survey, but uncomfortably close to the minimum sample size. And the 2006 is just a few owners short of the minimum.

Very much need more participants for all model years.

With a repair frequency of 54 repairs per 100 cars per year, the 2004 FX is better than average.

Electrical problems are the number one repair job with the FX.
Body integrity is another problem issue with earlier models.

My dad's 03 FX has been the most reliable car I have ever seen. He bought it new and has done 186k with it and the AC still blows cold. The only repairs have been tie rod ends and a wheel bearing which in my opinion is considered maintenance as this mileage. As of now all the power options work. Down falls are -- The leather seats have not held up well and are peeling leather and the rear drive side door handle no longer works. Other than that the car has been super reliable needing only regular fluid changes (oil, trans, diff, coolant). My next car will probably be an infiniti M because of his experience.

The 2011 M might well be the glitchiest Infiniti to date, so it might not be valid to infer much from your father's experience with the XF. The 2012 might be better, but we only have a small sample size for it.
