Infiniti EX35----A Rare Sight !!

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

As I take delivery of my new EX in about 10 days, I am trying to be aware of Infiniti's on the road. I probably see G's the most, followed by FX and an occassional M. In the 3 weeks I have been "Paying attention" I have yet to see an EX on the road. I actually see $100K + Mercedes much more often. I know I have seen EX's over the past year but not many. How often do you see these models in your area??

quite rare.... I wonder why though.. It's priced great...better equiped than the GLK and the X3... the Q5 looks good too..but very pricey yet not as reliable as the EX. So what am I missing? I don't see why the EX isn't as popular as its competitor...

I live in town of about 85,000 and the nearest Infiniti dealer is 2 hours away but there are 3 EX's in town. True though... there are way more Audis and BMWs here but the same thing applies to the dealer.. still 2 hours away. It is nice being more exclusive isn't it?

I am a little puzzled too. I can understand that the EX is really not a "Family" vehicle. But for personal Luxury with some utility it is a home run! Especially when you consider that the Q5 I was considering to replace my Audi A6 was a full $10K more than the similarly equiped EX. In fact , the EX had more equipment. There is one Inifiniti dealer in town here and he wouldn't deal at all. I went to a dealer 2 hours away and saved $4K. Worth the drive , don't you think?

I think this is more than fine as a family vehicle, unless family has more than two kids of course. I dunno, maybe in America people have some different view of how big a family vehicle should be, but in Europe where I grew up, you'd be too lucky to have something like this as a family car :\

As for where I live, I've seen just a few vehicles of this type in general. EX35, GLK, Q5, X3, all pretty rare for now. I see a lot more X5s, MLs, FXs, but I just don't like those larger SUVs, or large cars in general. It's nice though, because you catch onlookers from other cars wonder what is it that you're driving :P

Agreed. In Europe this is a huge car !! However, the north american standards call for room and flexibility. Especially in a SUV. The room is definitly not there and most NA families won't except the space shortage. 2 kids , 2 adults and Luggage and Hockey equipment would definitly not make you happy in an EX. The EX is more like a Big Sports car. Luckily there are just 2 of us in our family, so the EX is the best of all worlds !

It's becoming a lot more common in NYC and the outskirts. I will usually see an EX maybe once a day now..

i guess u can say its a rare sight compared to the infiniti family. In my area, my neighbor has an ex, there's about 3 fxs. Usually on the highway i tend to see a couple ex35s, but as of late i've been seeing more of the q45s.

I had to drive my car for 33 days after I bought it to see another one on the road. Population 400,000. I concur.

I live in Connecticut. I see TONS of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and other Infiniti models (esp G's...my neighbor has a Q). The EX is a rare site however. There are multiple Infiniti Dealerships in this small state (heck, 3 within 45 minute drive of my house...my dealership is 10 minutes from my house) so it's not like they are hard to find. I'm glad it's an uncommon site actually. We're not like everybody else, lol.

San Diego, CA. Tons of G 35, BMW, MERSEDES, LEXUS, A LOT OF AUDI, a bit of FX, and rarely EX. We have many dealerships in the LA area.

One reason that the EX's are rare is that they don't fit the needs of a lot of folks. When it just came out a few years back my initial response was eh... too small.

But that was because I was looking at it as an SUV. Now I look at it as a vehicle that is fun to drive, has style, and some utility.

So- I should be driving mine by June It is replacing my G35 coupe. So maybe you can see where I'm coming from. And I love the coupe for same reason. Having 2 seats in back allowed some utility and the ability to drop the seat backs gave me more. I look at both vehicles as essentially 2 passenger rides, but can take a couple others if needed. But I like both for the way they drive.

well, compare to the Lexus IS I had, the EX is like a Mythical Creature that you only heard about. lolwith the Lexus IS, if I stop at a busy red signal, Usually I can find at least 1 other IS in the same block 70% of the time. and I have seen up to 5 IS in the same block before. hahahawith EX, I'll be luck if I see one a week. I am in So Cal.

being from the land of bumper to bumper traffic starting anytime after 2:30 and from the land of tote bag w/flasks equipped soccer moms (Long Island for those of you who don't know),

I see EX's everyday.....i see mostly men driving them on the roads towards the city in the morning (which makes sense, i fall into that demographic/category); on the Island, i see them parked everywhere!!

I'm pretty sure I see 6-8 different ones withing 1 mile of my house for sure

Mid-West Ohio. Had ours for a year, have never seen another. There is a white FX that runs around town though.

I had the same reaction as RedwinGV when I first looked at the EX in 2008. Back seat too small, limited cargo. Then I realized it is just my wife and I and occassional passangers. This is the perfect vehicle for our lifestyle. Luxury to the max, easy to park, reasonable mileage, and I like the fact that it is rare. What's not to like?

I live in Upstate NY and I see alot of the Lexus RX. Very popular up here. My neighbor has an EX35 and I have only seen probably two others.

I live in the middle of Los Angeles and the EX is becoming more common - I see another one at least once a day. When I bought mine just over 2 years ago, I didn't see a SINGLE other EX for about 3 months. They're becoming more popular. Recently an identical EX in my rare color (Tidewater) even parked near me.
Even in LA, dealer coverage isn't great. The Santa Monica dealer closed, so anyone in downtown LA or the Westside must go to a dealer in the Valley or in the south part of the county.
