Infiniti EX35 2012 REAR LICENSE PLATE HELP!

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello. I just bought an Infiniti EX35 2012 Journey AWD. What a nice car!! I need some help though. This is the 1st Infiniti I have owned and I cannot seem to figure out what hardware to use to attach the rear license plate. Right now my 45 day tag is taped in the back window because I cannot seem to find screws that fit. I am wondering if something is missing maybe from the back where the place attaches. Can someone please tell me what hardware I use to attach the rear plate and where to purchase it from? I bought the car from a non Infiniti dealer and they did not have screws that would work for it when I drove it off the lot. Thanks so much!

Okay so after some research I guess I need some type of plastic inserts that go in the holes on the back of the car before I can screw in the plate. Does anyone know where I can get these plastic inserts from or what they are called?

Mine has no plastic insert. It just has two machine screws. They are metric size. I want to say they are M12. But if you go to an Ace Hardware, they will let you take a few sizes outside so you can find the right size.

Thanks so much. I appreciate everyone's help. I attached a picture of what the back of my car looks like now to give you an idea. I will check out Ace hardware to see what they have as well.

I don't recall how my license plate holes looked on my EX, but the holes in the photo don't appear to be in the greatest shape. Hopefully the screw threads in the holes are ok. If they aren't, the machine screws won't work and you may have to get the plastic inserts to get the plate mounted. Let us know if you're successful with the machine screws.

Thanks! The dealer I bought the car from emailed today and said they sent one of their service guys to an Infiniti dealer to get the parts and they are suppose to install the plate and hardware tomorrow. Hope it goes well! I will let you know.
