Infiniti EX Resale, my recent trade

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

For all of those that speculated on the resale value of the EX35, all I can say is WOW! I purchase my 08 EX35 AWD Journey in May 2009, it was a base. I paid $27,500. I drove my car 3300 miles and 3 months later fell in love with the new option package of the 09's. I took the car to Carmax and they offered me $28,000 CASH. I then brought it to Infiniti and they gave me $29,000, yes $1,500 more than they charged me 3 months ago, they sold me my New 09 EX35 with Nav. for $7,500 off sticker.

I do not know how this works but the dealer sold my used EX in only 2 weeks??

They have a saying in the car business. There are new car buyers and there are used car buyers. Most used car buyers go directly to used cars, they don't even look at new ones, they assume they will cost more. The reason for the high prices on used is due to demand, used cars are selling much better than new right now. Some things don't make sense, they just are.Scott

That is great and surprising news. We have had a few base EXs come from the auctions (one very nice black/black w/ brushed 20s) and it is interesting that people seem want the base ones as used cars. That is very different than the majority of other Infiniti models, most have less resale appeal. It always comes back to supply and demand.

Getting into a new car is cost efficient to some people depending on their needs and financial standings, yet they have ingrained perception that new cars are very expensive. Usually in house financing rates and credit options are better for new and almost next to that would be a CPO.

New and CPO really offer the best post sale support and with low numbers of potential buyers should give people in some markets a significant upper hand in negotiating a deal.

Well maybe these cars are starting to move, and I can finally get a decent price on mine now. Carmax only offered me $29k on a fully loaded /w tech 08 EX35 AWD with 9k miles a couple months ago. The car was only 6 months old then.

I had a similar experience when I traded my EX in earlier this year.
