Alright, so I just purchased a 2014 Q50S Hybrid

(I know, lameee... Hybrid with a sports muffler makes no sense blahblahblah),

...but that aside, do you guys think it would be worth the upgrade or should I go all in with a catback/axleback? It would cost me about $350 to pick up a sports muffler direct from my infiniti dealership.

Here's a picture completely unrelated to the exhaust, because ooo shiny!...

FWIW I have a Stillen Stage 2 carback on order for my '16 Q50 Red Sport, they come with Infiniti's sport muffler, way too quiet.

Do a Youtube search, you'll find exhaust videos for your engine. Enjoy your Q50S hybrid.......

Nice car!

You'll love doing the full catback exhaust, but $350 is a really good price for the Infiniti exhaust at your dealer. Those typically run around $600 or so.

Happy hunting!

I think I'll just save up for the invidia exhaust and hope another deal comes up.

Sport muffler may be a good option for $350.

IMO infiniti needs to change their approach to exhaust sound. the 1st gen of G's and FX's and a nice and recognizable sporty sound. the new cars are too quite. i have a new q60 while my M56 is in the shop and you cant hear anything. they are missing out on the added experience a sporty sound brings...

I got tired of waiting and waiting months for Stillen, and got an Infiniti branded Motorsport axelback exhaust for my Q50 Red Sport, from my dealer, it was $800 installed.

I came from a G37 IPL which had a nice throat, but stock Red Sports are way too quiet, owners are complaining all over the Internet and adding aftermarket exhausts.

If the sport muffler is the same one I got (Infiniti is stamped in the chrome on the top), which I'm very happy with, $350 is a great price.

Hi All.

I have the sport muffler kit from Infiniti. It is the one with the mufflers, not the straight pipe. I love the sound on first startup and the sound when accelerating. For me it has a annoying drone at 2000-2500 RPM.
So I will be selling them at half price (I got them from the ebay listing of the dealer in GA for $619). They have about 100 miles on them.

If anyone is interested let me know.

Have you turned off the pumped in sound, it's buried deep in the service menu? Before I got the sport muffler I liked the pumped in sound the car was so quiet. After I got the sport muffler I turned off the pumped in sound it was too much, and did drone......

Thanks for the reply rmyAddison. Yes I did turn off the ASC. I played with the ANC also. I think its just an age thing. I asked a younger guy at our office to drive it and he said it was loud but not annoying. At least it was easy to install and uninstall

I see members on social media simply removing the muffler and straight-piping...which is interesting. The Q is pretty quiet and if I'm going to upgrade for a better sound I would want to do it to achieve more power as well. High flow cats will help both, but, I've never heard a stock muffler with cats replaced.

The stock Red Sports are so quiet my dealer has two dedicated demos, one with the Infiniti Motorsport without muffles (straight pipes) and one with mufflers ($100 more).

I drove both, the straight pipes is LOUD, muscle car loud, and added vibration to the cabin, strong drone even at constant speed, windows up still LOUD. You hear it coming.........

The Motorsport with mufflers is half as loud, but still much louder than the stock exhaust, no cabin vibration, it roars on acceleration but doesn't constantly drone, reminds me of BMW M exhausts, noticeable but not obnoxious. I am very happy with mine.

Neither add claimed horsepower.

If you want power there are a lot of catback systems out there, the average is around $1500, most will add cabin vibration, but you'll get some more power. Best of luck......... ;)

You won't get much more power with a catback as the Q system is really not that restrictive. For some power you need to replace the cats.

While I cannot confirm, it is widely believed that Stillen actually makes the Infiniti branded sport exhaust.
