INFINITI are you listening?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Kind of like talking to god, but if anyone from Infiniti is listening, here is what I have to say.

1) Homelink, HOMELINK!!!! did you forget? my original 2008 Base EX journey had it, what happened? Did they run out? my wife's Madza has it! my parents Toyota, GM, Everyone! Do you really want to see Infiniti drivers with garage door openers clipped to their visor like some 1980 Oldsmobile? :wtf2: I just spent over a hour hacking into the wiring of my new car to put a aftermarket homelink in?

2) Privacy Glass?? again :wtf2: every new car seems to have some window tint, look at the Q5/Q7 Honda element, again look around. I guess Infiniti thinks we should sit around at a tinting shop or just drive around with windows that look like a base Caravan?

3) Roof RaIls? yes I think they are ugly but I need em. Can't we create a roof rail that is removable? Mazda did, BMW did, or just do em like Audi Q, roof rails that are sleek and tight against the body.

4) Automatic Flip down rear seat? Maybe it works for short people? my seat always got stuck behind the drivers seat and only worked if I removed the rear head rest.

5) Power tailgate? not a big deal to me but a deal breaker for my father.

6) 3.7 LITER engine, we know you got it! Give it up, where is my EX37?

Don't get me wrong, I love the car, but we have to work on this stuff :mike

haha...just FYI.
most of the infiniti market researcher actually doesn't even know this Forum existed, when I met with them last March.
I have told them i got lot of bug and whatever issues that EX had from this site. they were super surprised. hahaha.
for example the iPhone connection issues via bluetooth. they were like...wow people are talking about it on that forum?

LOL

They should read it, I think it would only help them and an improvement for them. Who knows, if they listened enough we would have a better resale values on our cars O_o (quality, reliability etc.. Although I have no complaints until reading one forum about the depreciation value)

I got to chime in about resale values, THE EX IS AWESOME! I have studied resale values far more than most geeks and the EX35 has seen a far better resale value than the G, FX, M, we blow away BMW & Mercedes. Look at my post on "what did you pay". I have owned 4 of these cars since 08 I am amazed at how great the resale values are. Besides Infiniti has been excellent on giving us great incentives that virtually eliminate 1st year depreciation. Where else can you get $7000 off a new car (besides GM and Saab). I purchased a 18 month old PT Cruiser for work, sticker $21,000 I paid $7,500 (from a dealer), the original owner of that car has a reason to sing the blues, we could not be happier.

FYI, Homelink is only included in the Deluxe package.

on the 2010, and 2011 model, homelink are not standard.
it comes only with the premium package. which is around 1500 to 2000 to add on.
the premium package include some of the most common standard stuff on all other brand , lexus and etc.
includes HID, roof rail, homelink, blah blah.
instead they have the Nav, and all around view cam as standard.
so, now u have a 3000 navi system for standard, but no the $200 homelink. mm....
that's because Infiniti spend an arm and leg on developing the system, when people didn't want to add the Navi as an option.
the R&D department can't justify their investment, and also the productions.
to keep the R&D dept going, they sacrifice the little standard stuff, to cut down the over all cost and include the Navi as standard.
so its a trade off. the consumers didn't have a choose, basically the Navi was just handed to us. wather we like it or not.
I think if Infiniti really care about Customer satisfaction, they should absorbe the small little thing's cost, and still keep the Navi system on there. I mean...how much can HomeLink mirror really cost to Infiniti?? they have the same homelink mirror for all their models, G, EX, FX and etc....
they buy tons and tons. their cost are well below $30 to $40.
cutting back $30 and risk the Customer Satisfaction, and over all experience. IS IT WORTH IT?????? A billion dollar auto manfacturer have to be this cheap??? What next? have 3 bolts on the tires, instead of 4 or 5 bolts? to save $5 on each wheel?
comeon!!! we are buying an infiniti, not a FORD!!!!!
from my personal 1 year experience with EX, and also reading the forum.
there are so many little problem, because of cheap designs. basically trying to save a buck or two, by cutting corners.
why??????
if u want to have a V4 engine, and reduce the price by $3000 to help sells, i can understand. but saving on $10, $30 parts? *sigh.

To add to the above list... I wish a cargo cover was included. If I want one, it's gonna cost me $275!!

For my garage door opener, I used Velcro to attach it in the side pocket on the door. It's hidden and out of the way.

I'm sure some are not aware of NICO but Nissan/Infiniti management is as they have provided us with cars at a couple of Nashville meets and we've chatted with them on numerous occasion. I do wish they would support large forums more but they don't. I believe we are the only large Nissan/Infiniti independent forum left.

haha..add one more item.
the moon roof button. infiniti is trying to another $10 right there.
using the same cheap little button to open and close the moon roof. man....that's just cheap.
most of the euro and Lexus are all using Dial to control the moon roof. so you can control exactly how much you want to open, without taking your eyes off the road.
by using the one push button, u still need to see how far it goes, before stopping it. (if u don't want it fully open).
i mean..come on, does the dial control really cost that much more??????

You would be surprised at how few people actually use Homelink. I see so many people use those clunky old remotes.

Having several levels available make sure slightly more mass market appeal. You can get a cheap one with bare bones, or for $10k (msrp) you can get one with all the bell and whistles.

Decent complaint thread though, some new stuff in this one.

As mentioned earlier, a Power Lift-gate is something I can't believe that Infiniti hasn't added by now... especially since the Gas Struts don't work so well.

I mean really, why does the Nissan Murano get one ???

The FX doesn't have it and only the the SL and LE Murano have power lift gate available. When you have half a dozen vehicles that are competing against each other there has to be something to distinguish them. The Murano is slightly taller than the EX, maybe that's why.

I bet you the difference is in the C pillar, there is much less room on the Infinitis. The QX has it and it has a large amount of space allocated to the motor and gear assembly. There are also all kinds of considerations that need to be taken into account before adding another system to a vehicle. The biggest is price, but that is not just cars.

I agree on the privacy rear glass, although that can be taken car of for around $300

Home link should be STD, it STD in many lesser cars

Remember the 3.5l is still one of the most powerful engines in this class and fastest, the base Q5 doesn't have 297hp, either did the X3 last year, either does the RDX, either does Mercedes small crossover. Yeah I'm surprised the USA market hasn't gotten the 3.7l ex37 variant

Pwr tailgate would be nice but isn't needed on this small easy to shut and open hatchback. Our odyssey van has one and I never use it. Its faster To manually close and open it

Pwr folding release seats are cool but I almost never use it. Have kids in the back seat a lot.

Roof rails in my opinion make the ex look uglier. They aren't that useful. Good luck in the snow, esp all the snows in the NY area this year, harder to remove the snow from the roof.
