As we're all aware, Infiniti has unveiled the latest version of its popular G35 at the 2006 New York International Auto Show. In addition to improvements to the previous version such as 300+ horsepower out of the 3.5L V6, paddle shifters, touch-screen navigation, rear-view camera, push button start and intelligent cruise control, Infiniti has one-upped the competition with the new audio system.
The audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose combines the industry's first 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with an audiophile quality head unit incorporating a 24-bit Burr Brown Digital Audio Converter. The big news, however, is in the Seagate-provided 9.5GB 2.5" hard drive that will be built into the system for music storage.
There’s no official word on which hard drive will be used, but it’s speculated that it’s the EE25, which begs the question whether the company will eventually offer customers the 20, 30 and 40GB versions of said drive. The G35 reportedly will also include a high-end Bose audio system with a digital audio converter, allowing users rip CDs.
The integrated hard drive represents a first in automotive circles, with competitors still focusing on iPod integration for their cars.
There are few details available on the system publicly available, but the new G35 promises to be a hit in the market and should have no problem taking the crown from the beloved 3-series BMW.
