Infiniti adding Direct Injection (DI) to their VQ series engines. 3.7L= 350 hp+

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I read on line that Infiniti is going to add DI to their VQ series engines in the the next couple of years. I know Infiniti will update the M37 with DI and the G sedans. Also I'm pretty sure the next step for the US spec EX35 models is to introduce the EX37 with a seven speed transmission. Does anyone know if the EX 37 will get DI in the future as well? I'm very curious if I should wait a couple of years before I get my EX 37. I'd love to have an EX 37 with Direct injection for better fuel economy and added horsepower. Any information or comments you have about the upcoming EX 37s in the US are appreciated.

last i read about the DI in VQ it was also directed towards smaller displacement engines; i'm sure 37 moniker'd variants will take DI, but i thought the focus was on 2.5L engines taking in DI and being able to pull off V6 power.

As far as waiting... why deny yourself the pleasure of driving an EX?

After direct-injection, if it happens on the EX, there will be something else that is promised for future models. Now you'll want to wait again.

You may never get that EX.

It's a vicious cycle..

well in reality, that goes for EVERYTHING on the market now. The truth is our R&D furiously out paces consumer consumption....

best example? There is this huge machine downstairs in one of the Labs @ MIT, it's been there for about 3-4 years already, and it is a legit hologram projector, problem? there is no one willing to invest in it because the actual need of it isn't there yet.

~ instead it's cheaper to do 3-D TVs which 2 years ago if anyone thought about it.....was just a stupid gimmick (i still think it is) but after picking up so much steam, there have been alot more innovative ways to incorporate them.

DI is definitely this decade's "thing" in the auto-world. But then again, there are so many other possibilities..... i for one think that our ECUs need to be ...better upgraded, we have all these toys like ICC and LDP, but our ECUs are still like the MarkII apples lol, imagine a 3.7 DI engine coupled with the brains of something that powers your rig at home i7, Q9900, 8GB of ram for processing, i think it is a venue that only car companies can explore cuz they spend more on locking the ECU down than actually improving it.

that new HUD by GM? or Ford? that uses the whole windshield is pretty cool
