Hi all,

Im new to the forum and considering trading in my 1999 Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4 for a 2000 Infiniti QX4 in cherry condition.

I really regret that I cant get a 2K1 right now,but in my area they are rare used, and highly overpriced when they do show up. Im also working with a very good dealer so a 2K1 is really not an option.

In fact, the only things I really prefer from the 2K1 are the engine, the HIDs,and the wheels. But most importantly I want to know if there is anyway to get a retrofit of the 2K1 HID's to a 2000. Perhaps from a Junkyard,or from an online source somewhere where I can get the pair for less than 1000.00. (Someone who is parting out their QX4 perhaps.)

I would consider doing an aftermarket HID retrofit but only as a last resort.

Any help is appreciated,thanks!

Check out www.car-part.com for an idea of what's available and an average price you might pay. With a list of things you'd like to be different that includes expensive items like HIDs, Wheels, and Engine - I'd suggest broadening your search...

From what I can tell, the difference between the two years should be about $1800 according to Kelly Blue Book private party values. That's assuming two units similarly priced and with 50K miles. Of course real-world situations may be different!

I flew from Columbia SC to San Jose CA to get what I wanted - just went out to test drive the car and hand deliver the check, then shipped it back and flew back to SC. Yes, it takes time, but it's well worth it to get what you really want!
