We have a 1997 infiniti i30 and my son brought it home from college and when he parked it he said the battery was dead. He said he's had to jump start a few times & I tried to do it also & just clicking. I bought a new battery, which was compatible & installed it properly, & would not start at all. The electrical worked i.e. lights which were dimmed before, radio, even garage door opener, and when starting car seemed normal, the lights on dashboard, but no sound whatsoever. I decided after checking all the connections to make sure, to try to jumpstart the car but to no avail. The battery is labeled Feb. 11 so that along with the other systems wrking make me thing, hpe that there may be some other issue, security, reset, computer, fuse, or ?? The car did sit for several weeks without battery if that helps. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

Could be starter going bad. Even though you hear clicks, and with a charged battery, it could be heading the way of the grave

Thanks for your reply.
Just wanted to clarify that I don't hear any clicking now since I installed the new battery, that was before.

I'm still thinking bad starter. Sometimes if you tap the starter with a blunt object like a hammer you may get it to work for another start or two
