Infininiti EX35 2WD Transmissions

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I own a 2009 EX35 Journey. I do not have any transmission issues but came across the following information and it puzzled me. The list price for a new 2008 EX35 2WD Transmission, built before 3-08 is $4,925.83. For a 2009 EX35 2WD built after 3-08 shows $6,995.81, Same for the 2010 model....The 2011 Jumps to $10,947.87 and the 2012 is $11,476.80. Again; these are all new transmissions for the EX35 Journey 2WD. I would understand a change for the newer EX37 with 7 speed...does anyone know why the prices change so much? In 2009 the 2WD transmission cost close to $1,000 MORE than the AWD transmission. I would love to know why?????

The only issue we have had with our 2009 Infiniti EX35 Journey was the power tilt motors. They were replaced under warranty.

Thank you,

Scott

good questions... how do you like your RWD?

I definitely wouldn't worry about it, it's probably just the newer ones are more expensive regardless of 5 speed or 7 speed

We really like our EX35 Journey 2WD. We live in Northern California; it does not snow in our area. I prefer the simple mechanicals and feeling of two wheel drive. If I lived in snow country or skied I would have AWD.

I just was wondering what the differences were in the transmissions. Their must be a reason for the 2WD transmission to cost a grand more than the AWD transmission in 2009. Their must be a reason the price of the RWD transmission went up so much between 2008 and 2009. I wonder if it is due to the "snow mode". included with the 2009 RWD models. The 2008 RWD models did not have that feature. It does not make sense why the price went up as much as it did over the years.

I was able to have my 2009 RWD transmission serviced. You can drain the fluid and replace with new. The 7 speeds are sealed, you cannot change the fluid. I wonder if the later model 5 speeds are the same? Something is different??????
