I seem to only visit this forum when I need something, but you guys always help me out, so here I am.

Here's my problem. We have a 2008 Rogue and are expecting a baby in February 2010. We registered for and received a Graco Snugride 32. Now after reading a few reviews in this forum, I discover that installing this seat will make my front passenger seat completely unusable. *FAIL*

I'm just looking for your best car seat recommendations that you have actually used/installed in your Rogue. It can be an infant seat, or a convertible seat.

Thanks!

I have two car seats in my car now, and have used a total of 3, each of them worked great and we never had to slide the front passenger seat forward to make them work. Our Mazda 3, however was terrible, I rode around in the passenger seat with my face plastered on the windshield!!

Currently I have an Eddie Bauer and I believe a Graco, both currently front facing, that work great and worked great when they were rear facing as well. I also have an Eddie Bauer new born "bucket" seat that I used before the kids outgrew it. If you want, I can give you more details tonight after I go home, including exact models and where I bought them? Don't worry about the Rogue and fitting car seats, this is my "big" car and the fit is great, lots of leg room up front too!

That would be great if you could tell me what models you have. Thanks for the advice! Glad I don't have a Mazda 3. My second car is a 04 Subaru WRX.

We have this system

And actually purchased an extra "base" so the carrier can be popped into either of our cars - the base stays installed. But dont let that worry you - with the Latch system -- even the base pops in and out in seconds as we loan it to the grandparents when they take baby. The carrier pops into stroller also. Now that he is 7 months old - we just put him in stoller without carrier and most times now we leave carrier in car and take him in and out. We love this stuff and it is good quality.

We have used a combo Eddie Bauer Infant car seat and stroller. Purchased a secondary base for my Rogue and my wife's Corolla. Both cars had ample room for the front passenger.

We now have a Safety First Alpha Omega Child/Infant Car seat which is now rear facing. Although you have to move the front passenger seat up a bit, there is still ample room for the average sized front passenger. The Corolla is another story. The front passenger seat is completely upright and moved right to the front making it unusable.

With the Rogue, you should have more than enough room for an infant car seat.

There was another report of issues with rear facing car seats:

No answer of what seats worked though.

I can understand that infant seat use can be tricky. Many compact cars/SUV's don't have as much rear seat room as one would expect. This may be due to the more 'upright' design that has been the trend nowadays... the seat cushions are a lot higher of the floor and the seats are closer together.

If you do find a solution, please post your results here.

I have a kid of 12 months now and DAMM, I'm happy because now he look front. But before, I get a Peg Perego infant seat for 0-6months; no problem for front space only if you are not tall. So my wife was always there.

After, we bought a Eddie Baeur and it was impossible to set the seat perfectly to the level without loosing the front place. So we did the best and the seat was like 20-25 degré from the recommanded position. The front space? So small, but is only for 6 months.

At 11 month, I turn the seat and now, we are so happy.

The problem is the same in: Toyota Matrix, Mini Cooper, Audi A4, Audi A5.

So the $/%/%$/% problem is not the car, is the SEAT... You need a yellow bus for the first year...hahahahahahaha

I just installed a Graco Snugride 35 in my S this morning. I'm 6ft, 200lb, and had no problem sitting in the passenger seat after installing it.

Thanks everybody for your input and advice. The baby is now one month old and we have the Snugride 32 installed behind the passenger seat of our Rogue. It fits just fine and I have no problems sitting comfortably in the passenger seat.

We put our snugride32 in the center and was able to use both front seats fully. Now have the Graco ComfortSport in rear facing position and it has to go behind the pass seat or else I cannot drive...hence, I do not ride shotgun in the Rogue now.

The new Graco MyRide is waaaay to big for the Rogue in rear facing position but fits in the Trailblazer just fine.
