My 02 sounds very nice.
Apparently the doors on the new Carerra GT make a hollow rattle because they're carbon fibre.
Some manufacturers make a point of making doors heavy so that they close with a nice thud, it increases the perception that it is a well made car, even if it's held together with sticky tape.
Anyways, Ive discovered that the sound of the car door closing maybe slightly unsatisfactory, but not a big deal. In actuality, most car companies have a R&D department that literally analyzes the way a car door sounds when it closes. Costs are cut, of course, based on how much that car will sell to the public for... Many manufacturers spend $millions in development costs just to make thier doors sound sturdy when they're closed? It's actually one of the biggest scams in the auto industry. A sturdy sounding door does not make the car frame or chassis any stronger or better. You've fallen victim to BS that automakers want you to believe -- a sturdy sounding door makes a sturdy car.
With regards to BMW... they may sound nice closing, but are actually scary in car accidents (Proof? Go to

Believe it or not, the S2000 has one of the best and crashworthy chassis's in the business, far better than even most sedans. And the sound of the door closing means absolutely nothing.
The current C&D has a comparo of new sports cars out there, and the said the new Lotus Elise was like being in a trash can rolling down the hill.
