OK - I know, OEM is almost always best, but after dropping nearly $2500 on recent work, I'm in search of some cost savings.

So I need opinions on MAFs I've seen on ebay.

I'm asking this seller if they have any for G50s as I just saw that this is for 97+

Anyhow, any input on saving some bucks on a MAF would be helpful!

Another ignorant seller that doesn't know there were never any V6 Q45.

For inexpensive, go with Joe.

Buy a few on car-part.com for under $100, tuck them away as spares. Also, buy some from NICO's classifieds.

I have hundreds of dollars in spare parts sitting around, waiting for failure.

A couple NICO members have recently had trouble with what they thought was a properly working used MAF, one of which went through way too much hassle before he isolated the supposedly good MAF as the culprit. The good used ones are getting older and older. For $400 you can buy a brand new MAF and harness-side connector parts and be sure that the MAF will never be a problem again.

Having said that, many NICO members are running their cars on MAFs they got through http://www.car-part.com (Air Flow Meter). I'd be hesitant to buy a used MAF from a private ebay seller - if it works, why is he selling it? The one you list claims it's a new part, so that's different. At least take a look at what's available on car-part.

We have a pile of bad used MAF, one day I'll get to repairing them.

When you buy a used MAF always test it on a KNOW good Q without problems. As even with a Consult showing it's output voltage very very difficult to tell if it is perfectly good or flakey with temperature or vibration after it gets hot.

Thanks everyone - I did have a stall the other day just after I pulled out of the parking garage on the way home from work (1st stoplight outside of the building. Wife's 96 just had the MAF go bad, mine's got around 140K so I'm assuming it's due.

Jay - may take you up on your offer when things clam down a bit - work is just plain nuts right now!
