Hey everyone. Just joined the club a few minutes ago. I'm currently an RX-8 owner. My lease is up in December and I'm planning to buy a new Z. Can't wait.

I like what I see on this site. The RX-8 Club website is full of morons who deem it necessary to cut people down and argue. Any advice on buying a new Z or anything specific I should be aware of?

Thank you!

It depends on your price range. You can find a nice used one for under 20K. Make sure it's at least the enthusiast edition because you definately want the VLSD. If you got the money 2007+ with the VQ35HR are super nice.

I think it depends on if you wannna do anything to it or just keep it stock, if stock the 07 will definatly be able to do anything you want it to, but if your planning on puting in after market parts expecaily in the engine you should think about maybe an 05 or somewhere around there just becasue then you dont really have to worry about voiding your warreny no sence in paying for one if your just going to void it , Thats what im goin threw right now i got a new 06 around this time last year and if i do anythning i want to or am planning on doing my warrenty is going to be gone, so i guess it depends on what you wanna do with your car if anything.

I'm planning on keeping it basically stock. Possibly aftermarket wheels but that's about it.

Regarding the VLSD, do I really need it? My RX-8 has an LSD but I'm not an autocrosser. Basically the car is my daily driver and it will see snow. Will not having an LSD be my death nail? I used my factory wheels on my 8 for my winter wheels and bought Pirelli Snowsports. My 8 is phenomenal in the snow.

the lsd makes wet tracktion much better as well, I honestly don't see whay they woudl make any car with an open diff, for comuting you'll never know the difference but high speed conrner exits and wet starts you'll hate life with an open diff

I pulled out my Car & Driver where they pit the Z against the 8, TT and Stang. I was highly relieved to see they used a base Z and still spanked everyone around the track.

Welcome to the forum. I am also from Indiana, and just joined recently. With any vehicle that has a VQ35 and a 6spd manual, you should check your oil frequently. Of course that's good advice for any car. I'm sure there are several 350Z-6MT owners who can tell you their stories about oil consumption. Don't get me wrong, I love my gen 5.5 Maxima, but at 90K miles, it really goes through the oil.

My turbo integra has an LSD. Of course it's great for autocross. I don't drive it in the snow much anymore, but I tested it to see if it was working by flooring it on a road that was ice on one side and clear on another. It worked great. Of course I'm talking fwd here, but if I was going to use a RWD as my snow car, I would definately want a LSD. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I'm definitely use to checking oil. Rotaries burn oil to keep the apex seals soft and lubed.

I was hoping to get away with not paying any extra for a Z but I'm planning on keeping this car a good while. Fortunately I have a super wife that doesn't care if I spend extra on this car. I hate budgets

Going tonight or tomorrow night for a test drive.

One more question. I've read a lot about the complaints of the Z's "cheap" interiors. How well are they holding up? I'm super picky and particular so it will be cared for with TLC. Just wondering if a lot of the carping is just hype.

Welcome to NICO and congrats on your choice to come over to the darkside. You know they say that once you own a Z car...you're officially better than everyone else

The interiors are pretty nice and hold up well by the way.

Thanks! So far I'm enjoying the darkside. Hope to make it official either very soon or no later than Christmas. Depends on how good a deal the dealer gives me and how impatient I get.

Well it's official. I'm the new owner of a 2007 Z coupe. Bought it last night. Silver with carbon cloth. It's just off the truck and still had plastic on it. I drove it home last night at 10:00. The dealership didn't even get to detail it.

I told them to leave it alone. I'll post some pixs soon.

Can't wait to see the pics. Couldn't you take it back the next day and have them detail it?

I could but I'm super picky. I have quite a bit of experience with paint and have a nice arsenal of products. I LOVE cleaning and waxing my car so this will be bonding time for us

Had my car almost a week now and love it. One question. I have the clear stone guard on the rear driver's side quarter panel but none on the passenger side. I'm assuming this was an oversight?

Scary ain't it? I won't let anyone touch my car. I nearly lost it a few weeks back when I was at my local Mazda dealer. I had spent all day the previous day detailing my RX-8 and took it in for a broken sunvisor (a very common issue). I wanted it perfect to show the salesman I had become good friends with. Well, we're walking out to the car and it's covered in spots. The stupid fools washed it!!! Man that ticked me off. It was so obviously NOT dirty.

I could just picture the wash mitt they used having just washed an SUV that hadn't seen soap and water since Brittany was a good mom.
