I'm constantly getting marketing letters from West Covina Nissan and Metro Nissan wanting to buy back my 2007 Nissan Versa because they "need" it to help meet the demand for older fuel-efficient cars. Yes, in reality I know they just want me to buy a new car but there is a major problem with this marketing ploy: West Covina Nissan actually bought this car back from us in August of 2011, over 5 years ago!

Reminding them of this fact doesn't help because the letters are apparently being sent out by Nissan North America and it seems they can't figure out how to take the car off their database.

Nissan's inefficiency and resultant inept marketing is actually driving me away from, not encouraging me to ever doing business with them again.

i have been getting the same kind of buyback marketing literature from Ocala Nissan. They want to give me $4,000 over "book value" for my 2003 350Z. The literature says that they have had a strong demand for my kind of car. I traded the Z in 2008. I get letters from them 5-6 times a year and also from a warranty company ( who claim to specialize in Nissan products) that wants to put a 3-year 18,000 mile powertrain warranty on the Z for only $650.
These genius dealership sales organizations probably all subscribe to a data mining company that rips them off by providing a "target market" of outdated registrations, and they don't realize that they are being burned.

I think all the data analysts went to ESPN so they could come up with their dumb NFL stats.

Seriously, what are they execs thinking over there? Their new cars are not appealing. Either they love taking losses or they have some seriously bad management over there. It's like Acura ~2010 without the benefit of perceived reliability.

Nissan marketing dept is inept?? You mean the same group of fool... er...folks that promoted a spongy, overstyled, Fwd, CVT only full-sized family sedan as a "4 door sports car?" :chuckle:

It took a long time for me to stop the "we--want-to-buy-your-old-Nissan-but-really-just-want-you-to-visit-the- showroom-before-you-shop-elsewhere" ads. I finally ended up physically visiting the local dealer (nearby my home), and got them to update the mainframe to delete my former Nissans. That seemed to work, but I still get those annoying 3rd party extended warranty ads. I guess that's better than getting even more annoying phone calls.

I hate those 3rd party extended warranty ads, as well as Sirius satellite radio.

Next time I buy a vehicle from a dealership, I need to request that they don't use my information for any of that nonsense... basically all I want them contacting me for is recall info.
