First off I cannot believe how reliable this 92 240 SX SE is with just now over 161k miles!
I made good time heading down while averaging a high of 32.1 MPG on 447 miles in one tank of gas...Lowest was 27.4 with the headlites up at night. (Windbreaks) All was done at speeds from 85 MPH to never higher then 100 MPH...
The car handled great with some speed rated Yokohama's! What fun it was to carve away the Smokey mountains!
After some great sights & thawing out on South Beach it was back to the frozen Tundra of Indy...
I crossed the Kentucky/Indiana line and all hell froze over!
A glaze of ice was on the roads...You could see the tail lite reflections from the car in front of you...Instantly cars were sliding off the roads...
I still had about 109 miles to go and top speed was now no faster then 30 MPH...A goof in a Explorer got tired of following me going that slow and tried to go around me, when he did, he lost it and I saw him bouncing off the guard rails...Another Explorer was seen balancing on a guard rail...Soon I see a new Implala race by me, maybe doing 55-60 MPH...What a idiot I thought!...A mile later he is spotted facing the wrong direction after smacking into the guard rail there...
A Semi jack knifed in front of me...Only keeping a far distance between us saved me from smacking him...(as you could just idle or put in in nuetral to slow down)
I think I was the only other rear wheel drive car out there I saw...(Just one Camaro in the ditch)
What normally takes me 2 hours, took me 6 hours...
I counted 50 cars in the ditch...with many more already having been pulled out...My Michigan winter driving experence kept this 240SX SE on the road...
Guys be very careful out there...It was a very stressful last stretch of road, but I am glad I made it...
UGH, its now 2 degree's today, windchill about 20 bellow! Now why did I move back from Hawaii again? ha ha...
