Welp, here is the official Indy 500 (After Action Report).

Repoman and I had a friend that came into town on R&R from Baghdad. (Major props go out to the First Armor Division!) Repo, a bunch of friends and I met up at the Rathskeller for good German food and beer on Friday night. After catching some shuteye we rallied in Greenwood, Indiana to make our journey to Speedway. Repoman had the hookup with the Hummer H2 and we took off to the track. We encountered some traffic, but its pretty amazing how easy it is to get through traffic with a H2. We parked at a friend's house that gave us the hookup to park for free and we hung out at his house while the first rain delay went on. For you folks that have never experienced the "500" before, it is literally one big party in the town of Speedway. People put up tents and have cookouts and breakfast buffets. After drinking half out beers, we walked over to the track to pick up our tickets (ask Repoman, nothing goes with Coors Light like eggs and bacon!)...

We found our seats and got situated for the race. As luck would have it, we as right behind Dario Franchitti's pit crew. Which meant that we got to look at Ashley Judd all day long.

After the second rain delay of the day the sun came out to help dry and track. Subsequently, the tops of the women started to come off as well (Hey this is the "500" show us your...) we were also paid a visit by NICO's own moderator Simmsled

All in all it was a pretty good race. I think we learn a few valuable lessons for the F-1 race next month.1. Bring more beer. Rain delays only make you ration your beer.2. The $.87 rain ponchos from Wal-Mart were a lifesaver. Even though it makes you look like you are a giant sandwich bag.3. The quickest way from Rockville Road to the track is... (do you really think we are gonna give our little secret away?)4. Bring more beer. Running out of beer halfway through the race makes things get very ugly. It also means you have to pay $4 for a beer. 5. Track security is lax. You can basically get away with bringing anything into the track you way, as long as it fits in a 14"X14" cooler. 6. Repoman makes an excellent Sherpa. Give him the cooler to carry to the track.

It has also been a wild night. A tornado rolled through the southside of Indianapolis tonight. After the race we booked out of there in order to get out of its path. Lets just say the Subaru does very well in rain in triple digits. We had a tornado roll through just south of my house and I was with out power until an hour ago.

Hmm, I do love her so...

Sure are a lot of people wearing sunglasses for a rained out day...everybody's just so cool nowdays. I do it too though. :(

Hey man, that's a great story but a bit frightening about tornados and such...

Great write up! Sounds like a fun time. Though picturing Ashley Judd in a wet shirt has extra appeal to me. (What race?...ahem)

The F-1 race is a very multi cultural event, I drank beer from 5 different countries.

Also I've noticed that Guinness seems to make a better breakfast beer than Coor's. But then I'll drink anything, as long as it's not French.

Guiness makes a better beer than Coors hands down. But when the beer is free, its hard not to pass up.

Ashley had the convienece of sitting in Honda's HQ during the rain storm. Unfortunatly no wet tee-shirts for us. I do have other pictures of Ashley that I should upload.

Can't wait for the F-1 race.

I missed the 500 this year. I was at a wedding unfortunately. I will be at F1 though. I think we are going to be sitting on the infield mounds down around Turn 3 of the oval. Look like you guys had fun out there, but when is going to the race not fun? And yeah, more pics of Ashley are deffinetly needed here.

As for the tornado. I live on the southside just off of SR 37 and Southport Rd. Probably less than a mile from where the tornado went through. The entire neighbohood was standing at the end of my street watching the tornado go just north of our neighborhood. Pretty crazy scene to say the least. This is the second tornado I've survived here in the last 2 years. The September tornado of 2002 went right through my old neighborhood in Homecroft and tore half the neighborhood down. We were lucky enough to only loose 7 trees and some siding. Got to love the weather in the midwest. Rain, then sun, then rain, then sun, then hail, then tornado, then sun, then rain. It is an ever revolving surprise to see what weather we'll have in the next 10 minutes.

Maybe God is trying to tell you something.Move from Southport!

I think Andy, Jason and I are going to purchase General Admission tickets for the F-1 race. We like to sit on the back stretch of the road course.

Maybe. I've actually been looking at the new condo towers they are building at the former MSA site. If I get in now, I can probably still get a condo on one of the upper floors, maybe the 20th floor or so. I'm sure that the top few floors are already reserved. I can't imagine another tornado hitting my area again though. 2 in 2 years is pretty extreme.
