I was thinking about something today as I wrenched on my old Datsun...

Why is it that the Right seems to have been able to become more tolerant, more accepting, more flexible in dealing with certain topics that don't match their "party line"... yet the Left stays steadfastly committed to "our way or no way"?

Example... Many GOP'ers I know are not opposed to gay marriage, or abortion, or environmental issues... they were at one time, but have softened with the times.

Ask a Dem to consider the possibility of allowing states to re-decide abortion, compromise on gay marriage, allow a little prayer before the ball game, or other state's rights issues, and the hysterics begin.

I realize this is a bit exaggerated, but when will the left collectively begin to respect the right of conservatives to hold to their principles?

They won't. They feel they are the "party of the people" and that they are the "equal rights party" (altho up until the 60's they were the racist party) and they know what is best for everyone. You do what they want you to do (even though their own politicians don't follow that) and there are no negotiations.

I've sarcastically stated time and time again what their viewpoint of conservatives are and not once have they said "BS" to it because they are so brainwashed they believe it to be true. Without them to try and instill more Gov control the US will implode
