Indianapolis meet.. 7/11/04

Place: Right now I am going to have it at Ft. Ben, because thats the only good park I know of. HOWEVER, if someone finds a park just as good thats free, let me know and we'll edit the post... Ft Ben charges like $5/car and thats good for the day.....

Here are some quasi directions:

On pendleton pike (highway 67) you want to turn NORTH on POST road. Post road Ts at the end and you will go left ot enter the park. There is a small parking lot just before the road Ts, and Ill be there waiting for people to show up there.. After we get a group, we will head into the park and then people can filter in as we go.. I have an idea on wehre we're gonna setup but no guarntees since that spot might be taken!!

I will give more specific directions closer to the time...

Time: Ill be there around 10 or so (most likely) to greet people... Id like people to get there around 11-12 (people coming from out of town will be more towards the latter)...

I have thought about getting together a golf game early in the morning if anyone is interested, there are quite a few nice indy area courses!! Or we could do that sunday if anyone's interested!

Other information: We will have a cookout there, and I will bring my grille. Everyone needs to bring some drinks, chairs, etc... We'll have each person bring 1 thing, or we can all bring some money and then head out to the store, but it'd probably be easier this way..... Last time we went out to dinner after that (buffalo wild wings) but thats always TBA.....

Im sorry that I didnt get a track meet this time, but I procrastinated it too long .... However, this should be fun, the interstate isnt too far away, if anyone wants to take on the Q

Everyone, you will really want to bring bug spray and sunscreen. We've had a lot of rain here and the mosquitoes can be unbearable at times. I have mosquito spray thats 95% DEET and thats about all that works... INSTANT CANCER!!

If you guys want to, we can go to buffalo wild wings, in anderson. Its the biggest one in the country (used to be a MASSIVE shoe carnival, has about 5 big screens over 100in, you theres not a place you can sit where you cant see a TV)... About 15-30 mins from Ft Ben, I dont know whats closer?

the meet is too unorganized me to attend. I need to know exactly what we are doing so I can plan things in advance and it doesnt seem like alot of people are going to show up. Maybe there will be a better organized meet that I can attend sometime this summer.

Better organized?? WTF are you talking about.... We're going to meet at FT Ben at around 11, have a cookout, and then decide what we're going to do after that (around 5)..... how much more organized do you want it to be!

If you dont want to come thats OK but its not going to be from lack of organization.....

If theres only a gonna be a handful of us, we could maybe do something different... We can still meet at the parking lot I mentioned at Ft Ben and decide what we want to do after that......

I think Wess is just trying to do a local get together type thing not a full blown two day National Nico meet. Its just a day set aside for some of the local Indy folks or whoever else wants to go, to chill, hang out and have a cookout.

The only track days I hear of are when there are auto-x events in Indiana... I'm sure there is the possiblity of a big Indy meet in the future but I havent heard much talk about one being put together... It takes a lot of planning and everyone seems to be super busy lately, so I don't even know if there will be a big Indy meet this summer.

Well me and ryan really wanted to make this a huge indy meet, but Ryan had some issues beyond his control, and I dont think i could plan a meet that big.....

We'll have something big later summer or fall as soon as ryan and I have some time to "regroup"

I however appreciate the understanding and hopefully this will be a decent meet.....

If someone has a little canister of propane that would be cool..... Theres markets close so we can grab some dogs and PRE COOKED bratwurst.....

If everyone could bring at least a 6 pack of their favorite soft drink, and or some chips..... Ill try and bring all of the above, but the more people bring the less we'll have to buy......

Wes, if you're going to Ft. Ben again, they have grills already in place there. All you need is a little charcoal. Someone make sure to grab tongs or something to turn them with, you don't want to use Bud's killing knife again. Have fun.

I checked the forcast and its showing scattered thunderstorms accross Indy for Sunday... but there is only a 30% chance of rain. I am still up for going but do we have altermate plans just incase it does rain? I'm sure there is some place close we can go on Post Road or something... Id rather not make a crazy road trip out of the day by driving all over Indy.

Wes - I was just told that I have to attend a work related thing at 4:00 on Sunday. That just makes it unrealistic to come over for a couple hours and have to leave when the fun starts.

I'm trying to "negotiate" it back to 6:00 and if I can, I'll be there then, for at least some of the afternoon.

I was going to talk to Bud but I forgot, I dont know that side of indy well at all, so Im not sure whats down there..... I konw there was a green Q45 for sale, but thast about it!!

Alright here's the deal.. Just some last minute stuff

I checked the weather and it looks good... Doesnt look like any rain until 3pm, and if that its about 30% or so...

I was planning on buying some food before hand so we'd have something but it doesnt look like thats happening.. had some issues beyond my control happen, but Ill still have drinks and stuff.... I also had to grab some gas for my grill but that didnt happen either, so if someone has some charcoal we can use grilles there...

I wont have time tomorrow morning, because I gotta wash the Q and stuff like that, its a MESS....

Not expecting a huge turnout but hope to see some of you guys there!!!!
