Just wondering why Nissan indes don't exist in a large city like Denver whereas there seem to be a multitude for the other major Euro and Japanese brands? Maybe this will change with the comeback of Nissan.

Standalone [just one brand] Nissan shops are a good way to go broke. In a hurry..........just Infiniti would be a disaster.

Each tech can work on 5 cars per day = 1,250 and you need 3 techs to pay for overhead and a servicewriter [4 if you have expensive rent.Assumming the customers visit twice a year you only need 1900 customers.

Most small shops have the owner as service writer and the wife as bookkeeper and the owner may also turn wrenches. The kids may work there also. There is usually some kind of IRS lien or a big backlog of unpaid bills.........trapped in the business.

For years small independents have been failing in larger and larger numbers because of the technology advances.

In many ways like the old Family Farm.

Start by looking for a 300ZX tuning shop. Then check for a Consult, then check out their work. The local Z owner's club would be a good place to start. Doesn't guarantee you will find someone with knowledge of the VH45DE or the G50 in general, but will get you into the ballpark stands or at least the bleachers.

Not necessarily looking for Nissan only just someone qualified that doesn't cost as much as the dealer. There is only one Infiniti dealer is Denver so they can pretty much charge anything they want. Usually the local Indy's do Toyota and Honda and/or Suburu. When I had my chain guides done, I consulted the owner of a local shop that does mostly European. He has numerous industry contacts and used to be a master tech for Infiniti in the early 90's-even hosts a show on the local radio. He could not provide a recommendation so I resolved to do future repairs myself or take it to the dealer if absolutely necessary. The timing chain jumped so I had to take it in. After paying them $4500 I got the car back. Wasn't done right, but that's another story.

Why don't you check with the master technican at the best area votechnical school that teaches a 2 year associates degree in automotive technology.

Nothing is really complicated on a Q with the FSM and an IQ over 110+.

Being familiar is the problem, I don't want to tell you how many tow ins we have gotten from European Specialty Shops, you would think if you are a Porsche or BMW/MB or Ferrari/Maserati expert you could work on a Q motor but they just haven't seen the set up before and no one pays them $1,000 to read and study the manual.

Get a spare manual off ebay and pick a tech to train.

Anyway QUALITY independents can't function for much less than $20-25/hr below the dealer and they will charge the same list for parts. So what kinds of jobs are you speaking off.

Being Don Quixote and searching may not be very cost effective for the average under $1000 jobs.

I feel for you brother. Let me know if there is anything that I can do for you. I, like all of the other dealer sponsors on Nico, offer great discounts for Nico club members. If it turns out that you need an OEM part, look on Nico for the price.

Not trying to preach, just proud of what we can do for Nissan/Infiniti owners.:)
