I just got around to wiring my fogs to only come on with ACC. All I had that really made sense to use was the air con relay.

I ran a wire from the switch power for the fog relay, to the switch power for air con. Am I being stupid? I hear a *click* when I turn on my fogs, but I'm worried that I now control my AC through my fogs -- the relay for both are the same identical part.

Am I doing this right? It makes sense to me.

My logic: The fogs now get the switch power from the same source that the AC gets it from.

Yeah. . so uhh. . hahathe fog switch turns on the AC.

The auto setting turns it on as well though.

Fueler: You said you ran yours to the AC relay -- where did you solder the wire?

I can set the air on ECON, and then turn on my fogs -- I hear the AC kick on and it def. cools down. My fogs ALSO come on. . . I did trim the correct plug off of the fog relay, so it shouldn't be getting ANY power to send to the AC relay to switch it on.. very interesting.

I took an amp meter and tested the relay connections to find which one gives power when the car is on, but no power when the car is off. I found such a terminal under the "AC relay" which was either next to, or very close to, the fog light relay, don't remember which of the 4 but it was pretty easy and i just stuffed the wire (no soldering) in there and haven't had a problem to date.

So I made it harder than I had to. . I have two relays, with a wire connecting them. Still.... it should be the same as stuffing the wire in there...

I wonder how the fog switch power can possibly trigger my air conditioner. . weird stuff.

I'll keep d!ck with it. .

thanks

What do you mean you have 2 relays? Basically, there should be a wire sticking out from your modified relay. This wire, when receives a 12v signal, allows the fog lights to turn on or off, depending on the switch. This is the same 12v signal that you want dead with the ignition off, so you don't kill the battery. I stuffed it under the actual prong of a neighboring relay, after finding that the ac relay had a prong which is hot with the car on and cold with the car off. I have no idea what the relay controls, as the air conditioning system works fine with this relay removed.

It's the same thing that you did really, except I ran the wire from the fog relay, out through a hole I drilled in it. . but instead of just stuffing it in the plug, I soldered it to that plug INSIDE of another relay. . so it's a wire running from a hole on the fog relay, to a hole in the AC relay.

I got a bright idea and read the cover of the relay 1-2 is the switch, so I reversed it and soldered it to the other side.

That works. .

:o

I'm stupid lay off me.

But check this yo. . . the taillight relay works all the parking lights. So if I wanted it to only come on with that, I can just switch relays and move it over there (same part #)

I just feel good that I finally followed through on something today.
