Hi there, If you've read the post I just made, you know I'm trying to eliminate some rattling/noises from my '92 Coupe. One of the noises comes from just under the speakers, where the trunk lid 'springs' sit. They must be severely worn, because when I pop the trunk, it doesn't move _at all_. It will stay open of course, but I sorta wish the springs had a little more 'ooomph'. Also I have the stock spoiler, so that probably doesn't help much.

Anyways, I'm guessing these tension bars are so loose that they are the cause of the rattle. I havn't taken a good hard look at them, but it didn't appear to have an adjustability. Is there any way to increase the tension on these? I don't want them to fling my trunk open super-fast, just keep enough tension to stop rattling!

Any ideas?

Thanks for reading, and any suggestions!-Jamie

I am guessing that what you think is a car with a "stock spoiler" is not true!

Often car manufacturers have a heavier spring installed in a trunk with a spoiler on it to make up for the extra weight.

Your car may have been fitted with a stock spoiler after it was sold, and the dealer did not replace the springs with the correct ones!

I will have to check for sure, but there could be two part numbers for the springs and you might be able to order them from nissan. I will post back when I find it...

Ok, well that would certainly be a possibility. However I thought that the spoilers were part of the SE package(special/sport edition).

I was hoping to find a sollution w/out buying new springs... Considering Nissan wants $90 for a window moulding trim, I can't imagine what those would cost. I wish there were some 240's in junk yards around here, that would be a prime place to get better ones.

But yeah, get me that part number if you will: that way I can ensure that I have the correct springs installed.

So you know of no way to adjust these?

Thx again!-Jamie
