I've had people tell me that the engine would explode if it went over it too far or that it would shake out of position and 3 different answers, so could someone tell me definitivly? Thanks.
Modern cars with ecu have a preset redline. The car wont go over it when accelerating, if you hit the redline either the fuel would cut or the ignition or both. Now if you downshift to a low gear that even the redline wouldnt stop you would blow your engine or maybe bend a few valves if your lucky.
To raise the redline, you would have to have your ecu reprogrammed and some headwork done to justify it. Like cams, valves, valve springs, port polish, etc.
